It’s finally happening! Our plans of travelling in our van to a warmer climate have been put off and delayed for months, but our van life dream is finally happening. This week we’re taking our converted van (Sunny) and our two young kids and heading to… SPAIN! 🇪🇸
Our plans of escaping the frozen Swedish winter were delayed when Malin was admitted to the hospital once again, with complications from her surgery to remove her colorectal tumour. This came at the end of a brutal battle with colon cancer, where Malin had her colon, uterus and more removed. After several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and 2 major operations, Malin was given the green light to travel to warmer climates, and here we are!

Who are we?

We are a young 'Swenglish' adventure family, that consists of Swedish Malin, English Tom, and babies Charlie & Isabella, who are half and half. We love all kinds of adventures, including travelling around Sweden and beyond in our little budget family campervan, and we're currently building our dream campervan project.
But right now we’re focused on one thing: to be free of cancer. We've been on the journey to recover since Malin received her colorectal cancer diagnosis in late 2022.

On my YT stream, yesterday was a video of airport snow clearing machines at Stockholm Arlanda and I thought, 'yep, Malin and Tom got out of Sweden just in time!' So glad you get to enjoy warm sunshine and such stunning views. I hope the road ahead lies smooth and easy for you all.

I spotted the cute crocheted inserts in Sunny's upper cabinets - so clever and unique! Enjoy Spain! Can you just park overnight wherever you want? How do you find potable water to refill your tank? Camping seems a bit different here in northern North America where you need to stay/register/pay in a campground and it is seasonal. Have fun!

We’re a bit spoilt coming from Sweden where we can park virtually anywhere! In Spain we can park anywhere that there isn’t ’camping forbidden’ or similar, so car parks are fine and right now we’re parked right next to the beach. We stop over at a campsite every few days to fill up with water and do some maintenance, but there’s plenty of reasonably priced places here so it’s not been too challenging!

Hej beautiful family😊 So happy for you guys to finally have made it to sunny Spain!🌞You certainly deserve some warmer weather after all that snow in Sweden! Some 30 years ago my Swedish brother owned a nice home in Fuengirola/Costa Del Sol/in Spain.They used to stay there for 6 months in the winter and rented it out the rest of the year. I stayed with them for 2 months and had a wonderful time.The people,the food, (Tapas!😋 and seafood) so yummy.Happy travels everyone!
