Efficiency is anathema to the quality of travel experience in my book. The third class milk run to Bangkok is 44 baht. You travel with the regular folks, no a/c, vendors get on at every stop hawking food and treats. After four and a half hours you end up at the old Bangkok station.

trust me ,you will never be hungry in Thailand ,there will always be some nosh to consume if hungry . Thais don't do hungry ,just look at all the food outlets where ever you go here you won't find a safer country ,any crime is very rare been here 23 years ,sawas dee crap

i will be in Hua Hin in September-will def check out the express train to bangkok,usually go by cab,but this looks much cheaper,and quicker

Please try local trains in Indonesia... either trains or super fast trains with much better facilities among Southeast Asian countries and can be said to compete with other train facilities.
