Question for you: After going to the del Sol bus website I don't see an option to take the bus from Somoto, Nica only Managua. And it is also prompting me to fill out an authorization form and send it 8 days prior to my trip. Did you have to do this? Any advice? I'm looking to make my trip from Nicaragua to pass through Honduras to El Salvador next week.

Please what bus company did you use to book tickets? We are looking to travel from Managua to San Salvador, not sure about going through the cost and admin of the two borders but looked ok?

I am not sure I remember now - but if you ask at the hostels / hotels they will help you find a company - I think we googled it at the time

Better to get a chicken bus from somotillo to the border at Guasaule. Then a new bus from the border at Guasaule to Choluteca. Then a bus from Choluteca to El Salvador border at El Amarillo. Then from El Amarillo bus via Santa Rosa de Lima to San Salvador city. Total cost less than $20.

The bus prices vary and this was a year ago - if you check with Nica bus or Tica bus on their website you should get a realtime price 👍🚐😉 Enjoy !!
