A safety for solo females: A couple weeks ago I went to Seattle to see The Foo Fighters concert at the baseball stadium. After it ended, at 11pm (and I was alone because my best friend got sick right before we were to leave on the trip) and I needed an Uber to get to my hotel by Pike Place Market so the opposite end of downtown Seattle. Uber/Lyft was like 15 minute wait, plus with the added congestion leaving from parking garages and parking lots, I decided to start walking towards my hotel since I would be in a giant mass of people. After like 5-6 blocks the mass of people started trickling down so I checked to see where the nearest NICE hotel was and it was only a couple more blocks. So I requested my Uber from the Four Seasons where its well lit and has a nightshift valet out front so I felt safe waiting for my Uber.

Houston FA wife here. I’ve done a lot of “hit or miss” with items to travel and it’s very nice to watch your videos so I don’t waste unnecessary $$ on items that don’t work. So thank you for that!! My FA husband is a fitness enthusiast so he eats a lot… I mean A lot lol. Hi there, just had a few days with toddler granddaughter and her parents, I tried packing all clothing in a ziploc bag and just squeezing the air out before fully closing the zip runner. The least weight is my goal each time, rather than space saving, but it did keep the clothing under control and made it easier to fill out spaces with the smaller zipped containers for make up, toiletries, hair clips, bands, comb (3 rows of teeth so partially a " brush," ), and scissors, nail clippers, nail file and emery boards - all the things I would use at home. I've pared down the make-up to just foundation, small eyeshadow pallette with a deep, slightly plummy, brown, a light highlighter and two warmer gold/flesh shades, and a small blusher and two eye pencils. It all goes in a clear zip vinyl pencil case. I use travel size containers for some liquids/lotions etc, and small travel pots for thicker creams. I'm going to experiment with cleansing micellar water on cotton wool pads in a zip baggie.

I used to use the hotel shampoo for hand washing but now I bring the laundry sheets cut into small pieces. It's compressed detergent that instantly dissolves in water, no plastic and also fragrance-free. The brand that I ordered on line was Earth Zero Plastic, recommended by a friend. It works great! And now I see that my local grocery store is selling similar products in the detergent aisle. I also use them in apartment washers in Europe, esp. in France. The French love heavily scented products and I have super-sensitive skin so these are a life-saver for me and good for the environment as well.

One hack that has helped me traveling between a cold/hot climate. Lands' End and LL Bean make short jackets and vests that fold down into it's own pockets. So when I leave home in the cold morning I layer a short sleeved shirt under a light hoodie/sweater and wear the jacket on the plane. Once seated, I pack it up and put it in my personal bag. Then, on the return trip, I unpack it after we land in the airport, before I go outside. Here's a hack I just tumbled to. I've been planning my packing for the 4,000 km trip to visit my Mum, and as usual, struggling to fit a fall wardrobe into a carry on. I realized by summer travel fabric tank maxi dress can be rolled up smaller than any pajamas or nighties I own. So, that will be what I sleep in. Mum is a casual dresser and I don't usually need a dress when I visit, but if I do, I can pair the tank dress with a light jacket. Dual-duty items are the best for travel. Flats that can be dressy shoes and hotel room slippers, dresses that can also be slept in, bandanas that can be used as a valet tray, a sun protection when walking by the sea, or an emergency face covering when there is smoke.

I love learning new packing tips, even though I consider myself to be an Old Pro at travelling light. I watched several of your videos on packing cubes last year before buying a set, which was a real game changer for a long trip to Oz. I have ME and tire easily, so the last thing I need is to be burdened with heavy luggage that I may have to carry or pull myself. I make lists of everything I'll need and am ruthless with what I actually pack. These days I need to allow for lots of prescription medication & supplements, but I balance that out with 5 small items of make up, zero hair appliances, and tiny containers of toiletries. Clothing is mix & match to create different looks, rather than pack completely fresh outfits for every day and night. Thanks to you I'm also going to invest in an RFID wallet, power bank, insulated cup and collapsible water bottle before heading off on a Mediterranean cruise later this month.

They squeeze down flat, barely anything and they are the easiest to get the most product out of so there’s no waste and they’re super affordable of packages of a dozen or more for $5 to $10

I agree with one of the previous comments that rather than packing Tide sink packets which count as liquids, you could pack laundry sheets which are dry till you add them to water.

Hi! Love your tips! My preference instead of extra adapters is one small adapter and an extension cord with extra plugs and USB ports. Sometimes the adapters get heavy and the outlets in Europe can be loose. The extension cord is one item hanging on the adapter in the outlet and can be positioned where it doesn’t pull too much on the adapter that’s in the outlet.

My mom has so many travel tips/ hacks we use that are very similar or the same as yours, Laura, that was about 40yrs ago. She was ahead of her time. Tying colorful materials on your luggage 👍. I thought at the time it was so SILLY, However very essential. Thanks, for all you do. I'm a fellow non-rev - retired for many years.

Hi Laurie, great vid as usual. I don't bother with traditional eye make up remover, I just use vaseline, then it can be used on lips, hard skin and also as a 'greaser' on something that sticks. It's a great all in one. Still in my tent watching you, got one more week to go, so far done 80 miles in 9 days! I've walked my feet and my dogs feet to the stumps!🤣🤣

You‘ve helped me so many times, thank you very much for your great videos Laurie! For a non liquid moisturiser, maybe check out „full of grace“ by lush - I love it, but use it mostly in the evening/before bed. I guess they have other options as well, just have a look what your skin needs/wants. I‘ve only tried and loved this one ☺️ (and it’s rather small and you can even cut it in half just like with the shampoo bar 😉) Have a lovely day/night!

Oh, and I‘ve just heard a story about struggles at the airport if your passport picture was taken with lots of makeup, false lashes etc. and you show up without anything - so the machines and ppl checking, are not sure „you‘re actually you“. I found this to be a lighthearted an amusing story, and can totally understand wanting to look good on the picture, I wouldn’t have thought about possible future struggles due to that 🤭 lucky for me, I was too stressed anyways and took a really bad but sadly accurate picture - as prepared as I can be, I‘m still anxious and stressed while travelling, so I look like a mess anyways 😂

Love your travel hacks I have learned a lot from you When I bring any glass/ceramics or fragile items in my check bag (I have checked wine bottles, perfumes, ceramics, etc ) I put them in a couple of individually closed plastic bags before wrapping it with clothes, in case it breaks or leaks. I also make sure it is in the middle of the suitcase and the suitcase is packed tight to prevent movement. Never had an issue this way. I also bring dry laundry detergent sheets.

My husband packed a small power strip that had 6 outlets & 3 usb outlets for our trip to Italy this year. He plugged the power strip into the converter/adapter that plugged into the wall. There was 3 of us so we had 3 phones, 3 battery banks for phones, air pods, Apple Watch & laptop all plugged into the power strip. We did take another converter/adapter for hair dryer brush.

I bought some of the flat flashlights at the $ tree. They dont take up any room and are extremely bright. They are great to find stuff inside your purse, back pack or suit case in a dark airplane or any other dark place. I keep one in my purse all the time. I took it to Europe with me last year and forgot to put it back in my regular purse. I finally found some .ore and now have one for my purse and one for travel. I kept it on the night table at the hotel at night in case soemthing happened. They are very bright.

While in Europe, I bought a curling iron which works with the local sockets. I can skip bringing the bulky converter. For cell phone battery, switch to airplane mode while you don’t need internet/wifi connection. It saves battery life. Be sure to switch it off when you need to connect to internet/maps.

I did the same for a clothes steamer. The dual voltage models all weighed more. I leave it in the bag I use for European travel once a year.

Another great video! I laughed when I saw the wristbands as my children (now 48 and 50) wore them decades ago when they played soccer to help with sweat. I use wrist bands like you showed now when I was my face. I wish I had thought of it years ago. I don't fly much, but for years I took a frozen bottle of water as well as a frozen sponge to keep snacks like cheese or grapes cool or me cool when I had hot flashes. Now they keep my insulin cool.

Great tips, love your videos! I want to ask you something. I entered the 4-digit code, made sure it worked, and put the suitcase away. Small detail, I didn't write down the number. I tried to unlock it and enter another number, but the mechanism won't open. Thank goodness I hadn't inserted the zipper hooks. Do you happen to know how to reset the code? I've emailed Level 8 several times, but never received a reply. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you, Marilyn

One tip I haven’t seen mentioned is free WiFi on dflights. I found out my T-Mobile has free WiFi on American and Delta and maybe others. Really enjoyed that this weekend flying to PHL. Also learned I had to pull my kindle out even with PreCheck. Didn’t have to pull liquids bag or take off shoes. Otherwise your videos had me well prepared with several Amazon purchases which helped me go carry on only. One I hadn’t seen is my new Osprey stuff tote. Size the palm of my hand but great for day carry and it zips so no losing stuff. On Amazon too.
@TravelTipsbyLaurie3 ай бұрын
Oh nice!!! I wonder in another airport or on another day if the kindle would’ve had to come out.
