Whether it's a 3 hour flight or a 16 hour flight, I pack my flight essentials [cell phone, nasal spray, medications, lens case (with solution in it), eyeglasses, gum, tissues, Shout wipes, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, face mask, eye mask, small hairbrush, etc.] into a sports fanny pack that I'll wear if airline not strict, or put into my personal item if they are. Once at my seat, I strap it around the back of my tray table. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the tray table, everything is safely within reach and not falling onto floor, and there's no need to use the yucky seat pocket except for trash.

Hoodie, love them for flights, unzip if too hot, put the hood on if too cold, tie around the waste if wanted. Large scarf, if cold use as a blanket. I always take a down vest if my destination has cold weather, super light, compacted and with a scarf you’ll be warm.

I was on an overnight flight recently and a passenger across the aisle was using a travel light to read by in the dark. She kept moving it around as she turned the page and it would flash in my eyes. I wouldn’t use a travel light because I wouldn’t want to disturb other passengers trying to sleep.

You never know what visual disturbances will occur. On my first international flight, we were a ways back from the bathrooms but the bathroom lights were positioned directly into my eyes-that door continuously opened and shut all night long-the light was on and off and on and off- maddening! This is why I started bringing an eye mask.

I purchased one of those foot sling for my trip to London. I'm short-leg, so I thought it would be perfect. Well, it made me feel like my legs were up on my chest. I agree with you about getting up and moving around. On that same trip, my ankles swelled to the point I was practically crying and stayed that way the whole time i was in London. The compression socks I packed were found deep in a side pocket. I'm going to ID from PA this summer, and you can bet where those socks will be: near the top.

I am watching all these videos about planning for a trip on a plane. Planning is almost as good as the trip for me. I haven’t flown since I was three and I’m 64 now. Such is my fear. I want to get over that fear so I try to get excited about the planning. Sounds ridiculous, I know. I’m trying everything because my husband really wants to fly to destinations and I hate the thought of holding him back. He would never pressure me but I’m pressuring me. I’ve been reading books, buying online fear of flying courses, watching videos etc. Wish me luck.

I have 2 of the tray table seatback pouches. OMG I cannot travel without these now. My toddler loves being able to put her sippy cup, her snack container, toys, books, tablet, etc ALL in one place without them being on her lap and on the floor. These have almost completely eliminated the need for me to reach into our personal items under the seat during the flight. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great information, thanks. I always keep my air travel comfort kit in that tray table pocket, it's great for flying. When you're wiping down your seat area, don't forget the head rest. You CAN catch things like head lice if the person using the seat before you had them. You can't be sure that everyone has the same hygeine standards that you do, so you do want to clean off the head rest.

I need that hoodie for traveling. Out and about, it’s great for different weather. Everyone’s body is different. I’ve definitely learned this by talking to people. My friend buys a neck pillow at the airport, then dumps it when she arrives. Going home, she does the same thing. It’s only $15 each way. I was on a flight, and someone had one of those little reading lights. The flight attendant made her turn it off because it was bothering her neighbors, something to keep in mind. I bring nose spray. A new bottle for each trip. It will flush germs, etc. while on the flight, and in airports. Also, always bring antibacterial wipes. I also have them in my purse, sometimes restrooms won’t have what you need. Some airlines will provide a tiny tube of toothpaste and a disposable toothbrush for use on the flight. I use it once on the plane and once when we get off into the airport. Love the idea of toothpaste tablets!!!

(The liquids shift from the 3-1-1 bag to this bag after security.) Yes for compression socks. I also pack a small pouch for “ladies bathroom needs” pads, wipes, tissue pack, spare pare of undies. For the neck pillow, I have an old one with an inflatable inner tube. It takes up way less space, but someone gave me an idea to stuff it with a spare Tshirt and socks.

I take a cloth book bag in my backpack, then fold my coat into it to make a pad to sit on - more or less a booster seat. 😂 I can’t stay awake on a plane, so it’s been so helpful on long haul flights to have that support and not wake up with a “crick” in my neck!

I love the Trtl for long trips; for me, it really works when I sleep. And it is so small and lightweight... nothing like a blow up or prestuffed neck pillow that can be awkward to deal with once you arrive at your destination.The Trtl easily squishes into your suitcase when you don't need it. I also love the Napwrap which is a tiny thing that supports your arms without an armrest (so wonderful when traveling alone) and can also be used as an eye mask. Finally, while I like the book light you have, I LOVE my Kindle paperwhite. It has an adjustable backlight so you can read in all light levels from pitch black to beach side. It also carries dozens and dozens of books on it, and can even be used as an area light in a hotel room.

have I mentioned that I am thrilled with the Travelpro luggage you recommended? I know I mentioned I prefer the two wheel luggage over the spinners. I use straps to train them together, and I was able to wheel a hundred pounds of luggage through the airport with one finger. (hopefully we'll be lighter for the long haul flight - I won't have to bring tools) also, again, the Bogush medicine cooler is great for insulin pens. the TSA may need to hand check it, but she said, "I just ordered one of these"

Please make a video about business travel tips and tricks. When you have to walk off the plane, and into a taxi to a meeting or presentation. Also best formal and business shoes for plane rides, etc. Thanks! ❤

Hi, I am not sure there are any other tips for business vs other seats. I would have to think about shoes for plane rides. Are they business, nice restaurant, water-resistant? So many factors. I love supportive shoes so that would be key. Can you describe more of your needs or questions?
@mariakern6793
@mariakern6793 6 ай бұрын
I had a lot of business trips in the past, but I guess, for now the rules have changed, at least in some countries. It still depends on your company though. But I see much more women wearing sport shoes in business exhibition events etc. where you get on-off the plane and must be moving a lot. In the past I used to use some slip-in with medium heel and close forepart for flight cosiness when longer flight when foot might swell etc. , because you need to have shoes with closed forepart for business meeting in many countries / cultures.
@mariakern6793

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I guess, the question was, what kind of shoes would be appropriate for business ladies on long flights, where you probably cannot be wearing sports shoes at arrival when you head direct to a meeting etc.

For me, I use the Colgate wisps. They're prefilled miniature toothbrushes that don't require water. I have dentures and can only wear the tops, so the tablets aren't good for me since chewing them is non-existent lol. And with the Wisps, I'm actually brushing my teeth instead of just freshening my mouth....oh, and when I go to places where I can't drink their water like in Africa, the Wisps come in handyfor the everyday care.

Yes they would be worth the investment. The tablets though are toothpaste so you do have to brush. But don’t swallow.

For packing to come home, take all your dirty clothes and fold them. I found they take up way less space than just wadding them up and who cares if they wrinkle, they’re dirty. You can also presort them for laundry when you get home. I put mine in a shopping bag then put any clean clothes in a packing cube.

Great advice! Thank you! I have a few favorite hacks: 1. I put on my “flying fuzzy socks” while lining up at security. Once cleared, I take them off and put back on my regular socks and sneakers. I get all cozied up on the plane and pull out the flying socks and put them on again. When I need to get up, I take off the socks and slip into my sneakers. Moral of the story… the inside of my sneakers won’t get all gross and dirty. 2. I wear prescription glasses. A must have is my eyeglass case to put them in when I sleep. I do the same at our accommodations. What a nightmare to have your glasses broken! PS - I also travel with a tiny eyeglass repair kit and several glass wipes. 3. An RIFD blocking travel neck pouch. We’ve used neck pouches often, but I just bought a blocking one today. My passport, credit cards, DL, cash and a small pill box with several days worth of my meds fit in it perfectly. In the event of an evacuation, I’ll shove my cell in there too. I’ll use it at our destinations as well. 4. ONE container with all the little snacks! So easy to pass around with travel partners too. 5. A travel pouch of Clorox wipes and several disposable gloves. We wipe down our zones and also in the bathroom 🤢. Really easy to ball up the wipe, take off the glove inside out and throw away. Germs are bad! Happy travels! ✈️

I disagree with sandals, especially traveling to a warm destination, just put on your compression socks with them. Then when you land, take the socks off and you're good to go. I also have a thin jersey tavel blanket that is also great for hotels or even a beach blanket- travel blanket is a must for me as long as it isn't thick and bulky.

I prefer wired earbuds to airpods, but they don't work with phones that don't have a headphone jack. just fine for seatback screens, though. I use Sephia brand, they don't tangle, and my first pair survived three years of yanking them out multiple times a day. as a guy I use a jacket for my "flight items" carrier. it has 4 big cargo pockets and a hidden pocket in the placket that I carry my passport in. I carry my phone, kindle, anything I would normally have in my pants pockets, (except my leatherman micra) a couple granola bars, my earbuds, and I can drop anything I pick up in the airport, as well. we bought Mrs K a neck pillow before the last international flight, and she didn't use it. addendum: I wore my compression socks for the short haul flights last month, and it was nice. also made it easy to slip the shoes off and on for security.

For a long haul flight I need a neck pillow but only the one that is taller that holds my head up. It comes up past my jaw and there is no comparison with those blowup or short ones that help give you a crook in your neck. I don’t bring it for short flights or only a few hours long, has to be 8 hours or longer.

Please do a video for those of us who wear hearing aids...noncharging on an international trip. I'm deaf in one ear and must wear a hearing aid in the other. My questions include if I need to report this as a handicapp, I cannot hear well far away from the flight instructions, is this a possibility to getting a seat upgrade. Many concerns as I've not flown since having my hearing aid and will be flying to London from Oregon in the fall. Appreciate any tips so as to relieve my anxiety. Thank you

I have moderate hearing loss on both ears and wear hearing aids in both. I do list hearing loss as a disability when buying my tickets and it shows on my boarding pass. I get my seats close to the front of economy seats so I can hear over the loud speaker and their voice as they are speaking. Carry extra batteries where you can access them readily. Mine are rechargeable but sometimes the charge isn't enough if it has been a long day. I keep the batteries in my flight pouch at all times. I had an issue being able to hear the FA during drink service and I told the person next to me that I had a hearing deficit and they very kindly told her what I was wanting. It is amazing how noisy it gets during drink service. Noisy areas are confusing to those of us with hearing aids. Makes it extremely hard to hear.

I ditch the foam of my pillowcase and stuff it with some of my clothes before leaving home, then after I get to the hotel I rearrange those clothes in the packing cube for easier access. Saves a lot of space and it's just as comfy as the neck pillow itself. Also bring an eye mask and ear plugs. I've had someone snoring loudly next to me and it's just as annoying as a wailing baby.

I think it's funny you bring Clorox wipes then put your essentials bag into the seat back pocket without protection. That pocket is where people put used tissues and gum...all the yucky and its never disinfected. I'd carry a grocery bag to protect your bag inside the pocket then pitch it as you get off the plane.
