Great tips! I also like to put a fresh dryer sheet in my suitcase after it's been cleaned and I put it away. It keeps any moisture/humidity inside from molding and it keeps the suitcase itself smelling fresh and clean so the next time I use it, there's no musty storage smell.

Agreed! This was so helpful, thank you Laurie. I added a pre-step of dry brushing down my suitcases, as they got covered in dirt, dust, and cobwebs in an old storage unit. Then I proceeded with your cleaning method and now my suitcases look great!

Many travel channels do not cover this important part, thank you Laurie. I use one Clorox wipe per wheel 😂

Great PSA! Clean that thing after dragging it around~ I thought of your bed bug video, another PSA. My 4 wheel luggage was destroyed in Orlando , so I filed a claim with Delta & then went to a TravelPro outlet to get my 2 wheel lightweight 21 inch. We only go 2 wheels now. Thanks for sharing this invaluable info~

I put dryer sheets in my winter coat/parka pockets for when we go on snowy winter vacations. Good to rub thru your hair just a little to get rid of the winter static and also rub on your pants or shirt for the static too. I'm dying to use my dryer sheets for such a vacation (fingers and toes crossed now).

Oh my word yes the static! When we lived near DC it was static-y even when it rained lol. Thanks for sharing!

Great information, especially the tip about dryer sheets. To clean my luggage, I use Lysol's aerosol spray on the inside and the disenfectant spray with a cloth to clean the outside, handles and wheels.

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I use luggage with 4 wheels. I find them much easier to maneuver than ther 2-wheel version.

Omg I follow all of that ...you can use a bar of soap in the packaging in the suitcase to keep it smelling nice Even before Covid I immediately bring it into my garage and throw my clothes into the laundry and use a basket to take all the stuff to my room. I clean the suitcase and it let it air out for a day . I don’t have humidity
@TravelTipsbyLaurie4 жыл бұрын
Great tip! And I like the bar soap idea.

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie And it works for people who are allergic to dryer sheets, like me (I'm actually allergic to all artificial fragrances, so anything scented with anything but essential oils or other natural fragrance is out) - my personal favorite is peppermint soap: strong enough to keep things fresh but not so potent as to be a problem; as an added bonus, it keeps mice away.

When I travel.. I take a mini baby powder. I sprinkle some inside the pillow.. I just chill off to sand land!! It relaxes me!!! If it’s humid, I sprinkle on top if the sheets. I do use lavender dyer sheets... foot to discourage pests!! If you have to do a load of laundry.. you can use those few you brought!! 😁

I always spray our suitcases with Lysol after travel & wipe the handles & wheels with Clorox wipes before bringing in my house. I put dryer sheets inside our shoes to absorb any odors before placing them in plastic bags or shoe bags inside the suitcase and also throw a couple into our dirty laundry bag. I’m a complete germaphobe!🤪🦠
