Tabletop CP: Bolt Action Battle Report- Burma '44

We head to Burma late 1944 for a game of Bolt Action. It may be hard to believe but this is the first time the British and Japanese have faced off in the Nerd Cave!

A really fun game to watch. Bolt Action as ever unpredictable. A couple of mistakes, the AT rifle cannot retarget if recce move successful. The armoured car when on fire should have gone down, so it evened itself out. Thanks for showing, great fun.

Hi Travis you loose a pin for every Bansai you do and coming on the table is an order test which can be re rolled if you are at full strenght.

Excellent game as usual. Most of the fun in watching these is the chatter between Travis and Andre. After following you for a while we begin to see patterns. Like Lt. Dan (Whoever) is usually playing on the table. LOL Forrest Gump would be proud.

The palm trees are just cheap Chinese made trees off Amazon. The other trees I made with Woodland scenics armatures with clump foliage

36:43 you dont get to pick new targets when a recce moves out of los. you auto-miss. "If the target has moved out of range or sight then the unit shoots and automatically misses." also you didnt field suicide AT, you brought improvised AT, which doesnt automatically die and can use rifles - at least model wise, dunno about your army list. they wouldnt get +8pen though if they are improvied, instead of suicide

They generally come with the minis. You can by them by themselves though.

In the process of starting bolt action so trying to learn the rules. When the veteran japanese squad charged the brittish rifles in the trees would the combats not be simultaneous? Also, would the british mortar who failed the leadership check pass with the officer bonus?

I may have misinterpreted the rules but I believe you can only banzai if it ends within 1 inch of an enemy unit. As per "Armies of the Imperial Japanese".

Reading the rulebook again the exact wording is "If a Japanese infantry unit is ordered to Run towards (or Charge) the closest visible enemy, any order test for that move is automatically passed, as if the unit had rolled a double one. All models of the unit must then be moved directly towards one of the models in the target unit, and must make contact with the target IF POSSIBLE." (page 14 on my PDF copy of the book) I must've forgotten the "if possible", but I'm not sure the IJA soldiers in this video could always see what they were charging at. That group of trees near the British obj made it awkward.

When you guys do the sand for pathways and scatter foliage on the ground, how do you guys clean that up after the battle report? Do you reuse it?

Riley O'Steen sweep it up with a little broom and dustpan. Or just tilt the table sideways and sweep it off. I don’t keep it but have though about doing that.

Justin Németi got the palm trees off amazon. Cheap trees from China. Just have to add a base.

I commented as soon as I opened the video and forgot about the comment by the end because none of the promised ads actually popped up. I know there was an issue a while back with KZbin dumping tons of ads on videos so I was making a sarcastic comment assuming it was their fault if it didn’t come across correctly.
