It is a high torque high RPM engine capable of 2200 horsepower, safely spool up to 30k RPM, and idle as low as 500 RPM but coming off idle the engine can produce 2500 Lb Ft of torque. Do you think I can just take the corners safe and slowly, and just dominate on the straightaway's and stand a chance of a decent run?

I'm a former Lemons racer and I wanted to sum up what a lot of other participants would like to point out for all of you that don't know the sport, the series or endurance racing. 1. Lemons cars can be bought for more than $500. But you can decrease the cost of the car by selling things you don't need (Trim, Interior, stock seats, window glass, etc. Overall after we were done with preparation our cost cost about $5k. 2. Safety isn't part of the $500 and here a lot of money is spent. You need a fully welded in 6 point cage with very specific rules, a fire suppression system as of 2019. Hans Device. Full firesuits, head and neck restraints, Race shoes, gloves, etc. 1 piece race seat, etc. I'd say that average cost for a cage alone is $2-3k. Personal gear will run about $1000 after you buy everything, and that is for economy type stuff. 3. Cost of entry is about $1400 plus the cost of consumables. 4. There is a strong emphasis on safety and driving safely. Although it makes a cool looking video, no team wants to see their car that they spent thousands of hours on (yes thousands) bent up by someone doing a reckless action. So I'm sure many of the racers there were a bit upset with people that seemingly don't care about the rest of the field. And Lemons drivers are like a big dysfunctional family. 5. There definitely is a culture of obscure and even stupidity in terms of putting in crazy stuff into their car. Active homemade aero? yup. Car with a upside down camaro body on it.. yup. Minivan as a racecar? yup.. but as long as the car is safe, and the drivers don't provide a hazard to others it is accepted. This team didn't live up to the last point. 6. Lemons races are all over the US and even now into Australia. Anyone that puts the money, time and effort into the car can enter to get into a race (They almost always get sold out). 7. This isn't club racing. There are many other cars on the track, various levels of driver skill, and it isn't a sprint race. The team was out of the running at the very beginning. Good teams don't break, and don't make mistakes. A class A team needs to have no failures and no black flags the entire race to potentially be in the running.

It's cool, you just gotta bribe the judges a little

it's $500...give or take... safety equipment and tires don't count towards that

theyre more....guidelines, than actual rules.

The car itself needs to be purchased for 500 max. That’s all. Little upgrade after that isn’t really wrong. Buy a cheap shell, put a decent v6 or something you got hangin around in it. If you do. Or buy a cheap motor as well.
@Mainroad.Manjis1014 жыл бұрын
Not going to lie Tommy was actually doing quite well. He was “keeping control” of the car and he passed a lot of people.

break calibers alone on it probably cost $500. Look at that what little they allow you us to see of the front suspension. They spent a lot MONEY on that car. Hmmm. I wonder why they are hated.

Brake Calipers, too or also.

I just did the same lemons race at msr last weekend!! My best time only off from Travis by 2 seconds and I was in a stock 1.6 miata! Man I wish I had got to race with Travis

If you read the suggestions from experienced lemons competitors... V8 American cars are not advisable. Burn too much gas and tear up tires. Can't stay out long enough to be competitive. Not to mention being fast on the straights isn't as good as being fast all the way around the track. G body cars like the 1978-87 El Camino (along with 78-87 chevy Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass, Chevy Malibu, and Pontiac Grand Prix), actually can handle pretty well... But not on a budget that low.

PlayedForever OSHIT Your clearly missing the point. They all know it was his fault, he knows it was his fault. He’s not angrily yelling at other racers, he’s not getting actually mad, he’s playing coy about it because he can. It’s a joke:

That 8:57 squirreling is epic, just epic. Props to Tommy.

I see a trend with Tommy every time he gets out of the car: “It wasn’t me”, “It wasn’t my fault” blah blah blah. Hopefully he doesn’t live his life that way.
@JZStudiosonline5 жыл бұрын
Eh, he wasn't wrong. Sometimes shit just breaks. And he managed to not get any penalties.
