Nothing but respect for this man! To bring American judo to this level is incredible.

I've trained with him before at his dojo in Wakefield, MA. Dude ankle-picked me as hard as he could in a demonstration for students. I was both honored and aggravated because he clearly didn't read my injury history on my sign-up form, but at the same time, I took a hard hit from the man himself. At least I have the story.

Sorry to hear that. Never met the man, but he looks like a very intense and dedicated individual.

I think he's talented as hell. plus he has a champion's mindset and work ethic.
@GrapplerKingdom7 жыл бұрын
I think his talent is his mentality and ability to push trough adversity. Recently I read that before Olympic games he trained up to 5 times a day which is literally insane. Some people have physical advantages, while some have unbreakable character, determination and work ethic like Travis Stevens.

Until he comes across that Brit, Euan Burton that has always taken him, his arch enemy. Just being honest
@vcunninglinguist34734 жыл бұрын
That Brit also had a country that supplemented his lifestyle, training and competition demands. USA judo can barely afford to cover travel and cough up pennies to the athletes. Euan also never placed silver at the Olympic or worlds any years 🤡 brush up on your history Chief.
@jaymorris34684 жыл бұрын
@@vcunninglinguist3473 I know my history, besides that was quouted from Stevens own mouth,, and your wrong about funding totally, most Olympic Judoka funded themselves as money was scarce in that field, it's was so bad that Ray Stephens who'd been picked for the olympic team decided he couldn't go cos he couldn't afford it. It was only when Simon le bon found out, the lead singer from Duran Duran who lives in the same town that he stepped forward and paid for him to go, since then all IJF affiliated countries at that level receive similar funding options so your talking nonsense, Judoka who aren't affiliated with the IJF are totally different, and obviously work on a self funding basis but they still have to switch to IJF if they want to train and go to the Olympics and then funding is available, so right back at you, learn some history CHIEF!
