I'm not gonna lie. I would give anything to have such a close, loving, caring family. From Papa Bill and Mama Jane all the way down to the youngest great grandchild, inclusive of all the spouses of each Bates child, it is totally amazing that the love in this family truly palpable. The support of each other, no matter who needs a hand or a shoulder of support you all just show up for each other no matter what. Mr and Mrs Bates raised such great children I honestly don't know how they did it. They still look so young yet now the kids having their own kids and they are spreading their love to their grand kids with the same foundation as their own kids. A life of faith and God always at the forefront, a God who guided them through all the years it took to get all (18?) kids to adulthood. I watch these videos with a happy heart because you just can't help loving this family, yet at the same time with a broken heart because I have a family of 7 kids with spouses all living in different states, no communication between anyone, I can't even think of one that would come help if I needed it, no holidays, not even Christmas or birthday cards sent. So my heart hurts not from jealousy but from wondering what it must be like to have so much love in a family that is true, faithful, and fun. Happy 60th Birthday to Papa Gil Bates (60 is the new 40, and you look it! 40 it is LOL). I have to believe that the love of God and family had to have come from Mama Jane and Papa Bill who raised their own kids right and the trickle down effect is going to keep on going for generations to come. It's truly beautiful to witness in these times of more broken than intact families. Happy New Year to you all. TRAVIS: YOUR SONG IS AWESOME! Look, I sympathize with you but every family has a story if you read the Bible and you read it really well you’ll see the disfunction in every family from Cane killing Abel down to Jacob stealing from Esau. Isaac, who knew his family history his dad Abraham and his mom Sarah being blessed in their old age and parents of many nations and yet he favour one child over the other and Rebecca did the same. We saw this disfunction with Jacob and Esau from the womb. Then that scene wasn’t enough we see Jacob who had 13 boys favour Joseph out of them all. The generational curse continues with Joseph being sold a slave and him being distant from his father and brothers for years. so we saw the disfunction carried down from generation to generation, even David who’s called a man after God own heart children were messed up too. look what his son did to his sister. so every family has it’s stuff and is dysfunctional but one thing about the Bates family you can tell those children love their parents, Mama Jane and Papa Bill. Gill and Kelly did a great job cultivated the love of Christ and praying for their children even if all the siblings are not as close cause some have their favourites and there’s some closer than others the parents are loved and they love their kids and grandkids beyond measure and that’s a fact. so every family has it’s thing. If you look at the Bible, you’ll see that this has been going on forever. The Bible says there’s nothing new under the sun. This has been going on forever so unfortunately I know what you’re going through like I’m part of that disfunction as well but all you can do is your best to turn the situation and disfunction around. Do your best. God will see it and God will bless you for your efforts, and that’s all that matters. take care. Happy New Year!
