1999.. I was 13 living in the middle of nowhere after moving out from big city due to my family's financial struggle. My parents bought a stereo for me and my brother. This song was on the radio at that time. I remember recording it and playing it over and over again. Even when there was no electricity the batteries kept the music playing. Tough time but I miss it. Great band! Long live Travis!!!

Indeed it is...and one of my favorites ! The first time I heard this song was actually on a British show called " William & Mary (on Tubi) And the episode was amazingly beautiful. Especially when everyone started singing this song and standing up at a mates funeral. VERY powerful moment. This song and the scene moved me to tears...it truly was beautiful and the song fit the scene perfectly. IF you watch it, come back here and let me know if it moved you as it did me.

I moved to Istanbul from Kenya to start college in 2007. Due to the language barrier I struggled to make friends in my first year there. I moved into this tiny cold apartment and I used to spend whatever little money I had on calling my family back home due to being so homesick. I had an mp3 player that I used to listen to in the train on my way to school and in the evening on my way back home. It had limited memory and most of the times I had to decide which songs to delete in order to add new ones. I could never bring myself to delete this song. It captured that moment of my life so perfectly. To this day whenever I hear this song it's like a time machine back to that moment of my life.

the lyrics : I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything is alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all of these lights Sunny days, where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shinning I can't avoid the lightning I can't stand myself I'm being held up by invisible men Still life on a shelf when I've got my mind on something else Sunny days, oh, where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shinning I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue sky go? Oh why is it raining so? It's so cold I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything is alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all of these lights Sunny days, oh, where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shinning I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue sky go? And why is it raining so? It's so cold Why does it always rain on me? "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?" The song was written by frontman Fran Healy who wrote the song while on holiday in Israel. He wanted to go somewhere sunny because in his hometown of Glasgow it rained all the time. In an interview at the Live 8 concert, he explained that he was spending a short holiday in the southern vacation city of Eilat, Israel in the middle of the winter. The city is known for its hot weather even during winter time, but surprisingly it began to rain for two days during his stay. When Travis began to perform this song at the 1999 Glastonbury Festival, after being sunny for several hours, it began to rain exactly when the first line was sung.

Today, 16 November 2024, got the chance to see Travis live in Mexico City. This was the next to last song of the gig and it truly made me cry. I didn’t know that this was my song, despite I’ve heard it from years now, but the first chord hit me so hard, that it seemed that finally understood it. Those tears of pain, but also joy, were the final connection between me and the wonderful artists Travis are. So now I’m sharing this to you, 20 minutes after the concert.

15 years? Well, that's depressing 😒 Funny thing is that the song came out when I was 17.

That's really depressing. Where did my youth gone? But still a good song :)

Mine was "Roy Orbison - you've got it" via dial up. Start the download then check in on it every 15 minutes to make sure it hadn't disconnected.

The best Travis music video ever for when the band starts chasing each other and then, find themselves a boat home to performed their new music video in 1999. I hummed while the music video is still played on KZbin today.

Travis were playing outside next to the Guild Hall in Cambridge, as they began this song it did actually start raining on them , Everybody just smiled and laughed. A great moment . I was there. ( Cambridge was having some fun with you.) Ha ha. St Michael.

I was going through a very difficult period in my life when Travis released this song and it described exactly how I was feeling except for feeling the sunny days belonging. Rather than further depress the heck out me I found it quite uplifting and eventually found the sunny days again. Thank you Travis for your wonderful music.

Heard this song on the tour to Scottish highlands on my recent trip. Then heard it in loop while walking the streets of Edinburgh at night and drizzling above. There’s a different vibe to it. I don’t hear much english songs because its not my first language but man this one hits close to my heart! Much love from India 🇮🇳❤️

Had my in-laws over today. We talked a little music. Dad was a fan of the Tijuana Brass back in the 70’s. Then he said he heard a song by a group that he liked even more. Now…37 years married to his son and maybe 3 or 4 times have we ever talked about music and he said the group was Called Travis band. Sure enough googled you. Sometimes it takes an 84 year old guy to introduce me to some really cool new music. 🎶 ❤❤❤ thanks. California lady here. 59, music lover. ❤❤❤❤
