High Stakes for me. I was introduced to the series at a young age and remember absolutely loving NFS3 when it first came out as a child. When my dad picked up the next title, something just instantly clicked for me. It was like taking everything about the third game that worked so well and just completely expanding upon it. A more diverse roster of vehicles, upgrades, damage model, more intense police chases, being able to play as the police yourself (on PlayStation), and a sort of 'career' mode to unlock new cars and tracks.. it was a brilliant time. To this day, I don't think its been topped. I'm a bit old school for being more into that over something like Underground or Most Wanted, but I just feel that High Stakes was as pure of an arcade racing experience as you could get out there, and for that, its still the top title for me in the franchise to this day.

I really enjoyed this video, nice work My first NFS was HP 2 on the PS2 when I was just 4 years old and since then i fell in love with this franchise. For years I was looking to replay this masterpiece and when I found out the way with the ps2 emulator I immediately played it.. and man this nostalgia feeling got me so hard I cant describe it to words. After that I played every single title to this day and personally my most played ones are 05 MW, UG2, Carbon and the very much underrated ProStreet which I really enjoyed playing

You got few things confused. High Stakes/Road Challenge came shortly after Hot Pursuit and that is why at that time it was jokingly called NFS3SE sometimes, since it inherited a LOT of things from Hot Pursuit. And only an ignorant, clueless child would ever mention anything but the PC version of Porsche Unleashed. It is totally different from other versions and the handling is even more accurate and car specific than the original NFS, not to mention the amazing tracks (both visually and in complexity).Year after year the modding community was trying to crack Porsche Unleashed to get access to that physics engine and populate it with cars and tracks the same way it was done to High Stakes. If you talk history, be accurate, not lazy.

It was a good game, but it got hated because it has Most Wanted in the title which clearly is not. And also it was a rushed game because Criterion was initially planned a true sequel of Most Wanted with the leaked beta gameplays that's so much different from the final release.

Actually when it comes to the "unknown" character from the Need For Speed Underground to Need For Speed 2015,aparently his name is Ryan Cooper and it actually first started at Need For Speed Carbon (because it is technically showed the past of what happened before the event of the 3 games: Underground,Underground 2, and lastly Most Wanted. Then only Carbon starts after the events of Most Wanted (mainly 2005 type as there are another one which is 2015) also Ryan Cooper is not just the "Unknown" character HE is the MAIN PROTAGONIST (as player) and the last time we see him which also coincidentally,the last game to not feature a main protagonist which is Ryan Cooper in Neef For Speed 2015 also a fun fact:when you lost the vehicle due to Cross stopping you (in Carbon) (Legendary BMW M3 GTR Most Wanted edition as what i call it) you actually supposed to not lost it,but to rebuilt it which is where the supposed "Stacked Deck" edition when it was during in beta of Carbon and the reason why it is named and looked like the Stacked Deck group is because that is so you will defeat Darius with it originally and to repair the car (the engine i suspected also is damaged which had that unique engine note which is the mechanical Whining ) you had to defeat the boss group's as they give you the unique parts as what you need to get back of what you lost

Nice video. Though, you forgot to mention that Hot Pursuit 2's ps2 version and the rest of the versions are different enough to make a 15+ point difference in metacritic score and that's the reason why Blackbox developed the next title. Also customization in Rivals is nothing like Underground games. Rivals only had some paint, rim color, basic decal and licence plate options. For the smaller things that bothered me, you didn't mention some differences between the other games on different platforms with the same title. Like Porsche Unleashed playing different on console and pc, or Undercover on pc and 7th gen consoles being different than on 6th gen consoles. 6th gen version is like a remix of older titles with Undercover's story and style while 7th gen version is it's own thing. Also I felt like you've went over what is considered the fan favorite parts of NFS history, pretty quickly. The part starting with Underground and ending(and including) with Carbon. Other than these, like I said at the beginning, nice video. Fun fact: EA made a deal with Porsche in 2000 that made Porsche's vehicles exclusive to NFS games for the next 15 years. Other games had Ruf's instead.

While Most Wanted (2005) was beloved, NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) sold probably the most copies of the franchise. I realized why, because I replayed that and 2005 Most Wanted several times. NFS2 being my first Need For Speed game, the last of the latest releases of NFS franchise that I played as of now was 2013's Rivals back in 2014-15. Since then, I haven't played any of the newest releases, because they all started to be played behind a paywall and needing internet to just play single player. Micro transactions for every basic step. Plus, Most Wanted 2012 was the lowest rated in the franchise.

I thought it was horrible personally. I also didn't care much for Hot Pusuit either. I think it came down to being Criterions nonsense and wanting them to all be extensions of their Burnout formula than a NFS one. Why I'm not optimistic at all about the series with Criterion again at the wheel moving forward.

Wouldn’t call 2012 fantastic, actually it is no where near the level of the original most wanted, but it’s still a very fun game with an amazing soundtrack and Good open world drift physics minus the input lag. Besides that this is a very well done video and hopefully we’ll have more positive things to say about the upcoming NFS Unbound game… and hopefully it’s not on the frostbite engine😃

I agree 100%. All the Criterion NFS games to me just felt far too Burnout-y. If I wanted to play Burnout, I'd go play Burnout.... Ghost was far from perfect, but ill gladly take thier worst to Criterions best.

Bro whats crazy to me is i think Nfs heat, and The run are perfect games. Criterion has made the worst need for speed games i have ever played and watched many youtubers in the community can agree Nfs heat was a great game if they actual was given a chance to focus on the game. Good story mode for nfs heat which hasnt been seen in any of those criterion games. Shi is sad we seeing need for speed head into the burnout faze which is bye far dogshit.
