This is why I respect this man, he's the only jeweler in the game that understands the real market. The market is starting to value cost and is starting to shift away from the "bust down" fad. For example, how many times do you hear those corny guys at Ice Box say "bust down" in a 25 min video while trying to sell someone an overpriced piece of jewelry. We've all seen those videos and thought to ourselves, 'God damn them dudes are getting ripped off'. So to see and hear a REAL Jeweler say "it's up to you and what you're situation is, maybe you want clarity, maybe you want a bigger size, it's up to you!" definitely shows why he's the best in the Jewelry Game! BIG UPS TO YOU SIR! KEEP ON EDUCATING...

After watching the 8 minutes video, i still confused about CVD and HPHT? Is CVD and HPHT the same? Is there difference in quality between 2 process of lab grown diamond?
@emeinert29173 жыл бұрын
gyphon23 No there are not. However, the CVD process is the most sustainable way to grow carbon crystals using moderate temperatures and gases rather the enormous amount of energy (hight heat and pressure) in the HPHT process while currently dying out. HPHT is typically grown in China…. Trax explain that CVD are a little difference from a mined diamond to a CVD though there might be in the two stones he present but in general CVD’s doesn’t come out the same every time. As it is right now not every laboratory has the same knowledge to grow CVD’s, some might create VVS1 every time and some is only able to grow Si’s. As technology increases the quality and efficiency will become better, but a diamond is a diamond and carbon is carbon.

Thank you for being so transparent. Buying a diamond is without a doubt one of the most perilous purchases a person will make in their life. So much money for such a small item. And I'd guess the markup on natural diamonds is incredible. But I feel the gentleman in the video was just telling it like it is vs. the razzle dazzle you might get in a typical jewelry store. Also liked the very practical advice on trading one characteristic of a diamond to get something better in another characteristic. Most gorgeous diamond I’ve ever seen. $2m worth of inventory is solid, but I get to look through $70m worth every day :) I wish the one thing he would have mentioned that I think is EXTREMELY important for the end consumer, that he didn’t tell you, is that once you buy a lab grown diamond you are NEVER getting near what you paid for it if you try to exchange or resell it down the road, which most people do like to upgrade as they progress in life, 10-20 year anniversary etc. in fact 99% of jewelers will not even let you exchange because this is common industry knowledge. @@DMRwerks actually, if you have a poor quality seed you can definitely tell. There can be overtones/nuances of blue, gray or brown in the stone depending on how the growth process went or if the stone underwent any processes to permanently change/affect the color. For example, aluminum is introduced into the growth chamber to counteract brown or orange overtones when growing via the CVD method, but then the diamond ends up with gray nuance. Or boron may be added into the mix when growing via HPHT, and then the diamond ends up with a blue nuance.
@dapperkt21102 жыл бұрын
@@masondelpino8118 You are either in the industry, or should be. Well said. As a jeweler only ever dealing in natural, lab grown screw the customer over 10 fold. What happens when she says no, or it just doesn’t work out? Hopefully where you bought it from is reputable and will give you at least close to your money back. However taking any lab grown diamond for resale is virtually impossible to even get a FRACTION of what you paid for it. I’ve seen a $7k lab grown be offered $200 and nothing more. The resale value on them is tragic. And no one but the seller knows they are screwing over the customer.

@@stephenlozada7158 No, that's incorrect. Lab grown diamonds can be GIA certified just like natural diamonds, in fact, many are. GIA certified just means the diamond has been evaluated by the GIA and given a 4 C rating (cut, color, clarity, and carat). However, it is illegal to sell a lab grown diamond without disclosing that it is in fact a lab grown diamond. Gnerally, lab grown diamonds have a number literally engraved onto the diamond from the lab that can only be seen under magnification. Obviously, natural diamonds will not have this engraved on the diamond.

The easy way to tell is that the lab grown diamond is usually flawless. Natural diamonds usually have some color to them from the rocks strata they formed in.
