It's good that there's a fix but I'm with Tomley on this one. Traxxas leant into the "overbuilt" marketing and it just wasn't true. They cheaped out on a few dollars and then claimed otherwise to their customers. Hope they learn from this.

Great to hear that the 1/10 4x4 diffs will fit. Pretty straightforward upgrade path. Thank you for the informative video as well as your earlier Mini Maxx videos.

Hey thanks for this update I immediately started looking at videos and noticed that everyone that was upgrading to the 3s system were blowing out the rear differentials because they were not designed for that system right out of the box. I appreciate the research and parts listing for the upgrade thanks again.

What a horrible, purposeful fumble by traxASS. Better off buying an aliexpress special. Mjx runs 50mph all day on 3s with no upgrades at all.

Thanks for the review! I'm a fellow hobby store owner, so I do appreciate video like this. I'm one of the biggest Traxxas Exclusive dealer in the west coast and have to say that the Mini Maxx is one of our best newly released RTR from Traxxas in the past several years. We took our first delivery few weeks back and had our Team Reckless Crew take it out to the skate park. After 3 battery packs (recharges), only component we broke was the front shock shaft. Recommend replacing with TRA1664T $10.00 Hardened Steel shock shaft. Other than that, it was golden! Running on BL2s is plenty fast enough, where running on VXL3s is truly not recommended. It's still a 1/16 car, that most people tend to forget. Thanks again for the informative video. Unlike others who just complains and find faults to use as a fish bait for their channel growth. Traxxas is not perfect by all means, but there's always a fix around it.

Should they not have this as a part that it comes with from factory? I love Traxxas and have many Traxxas cars, but this should have never left the factory with this weak of a differential. My opinion only. 😊

So should we only need to upgrade the rear diff? Or should we be doing both front and rear diffs?
@Freakeye_RC2 күн бұрын
Bro I just installed the front diff for the Rustler/Stampede..it’s works fine so far.Im still on the BL2S but I’m doing backflips off a cardboard ramp in the living room(they say it don’t backflip)the rear diff is still stock but late tonight I might mess with it and I got the slipper from the Rustler..I’m going to be experimenting

It needs to be the diff from a brushed 4x4 which are geared 12/47. VXL 4x4 diffs are 13/37. There are hardened gears for this diff too, 6782 and 6783 to give you 4 spider gears.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset. Traxxass has been lying on boxes for years. Lately the best way to know Traxxass is lying is to check and see if they printed it on a box. If so they're definitely lying. "The fastest name in radio control*" lol. Sure you are Traxxass. Sure you are.
@waldorfrc2 күн бұрын
Across most categories compared to other companies the fastest usually holds true with stock equipment. I am not saying they have the best everything because we do stock other brands that have different offerings and are better at different things.

A 10th scale vxl system is overkill for that tiny little truck anyway .The problem being solved will be the center diff upgrade if it ever becomes available. Anybody with a little bit of knowledge in this hobby would run a smaller brushless motor2845 and a 60 amp ESC and yes the old design slash diff part #6778. Traxxas just wants you to buy there vxl for a 170$ which is a rip off anyway.
@boduke94282 күн бұрын
A center diff still allows shock loading to occur. Even with the thinnest oil there's still stress on the driveline. Just adding the center diff won't make up for weak gears. If it's the same cheap pot metal they used in my Xmaxx there's no saving it. It won't survive long on stock power.
@waldorfrc2 күн бұрын
The upgrade is $125 at my shop to the VXL system.
@Schmidt38502 күн бұрын
Like I said the 6778 diffs and the vxl system designed for a full sized 10th scale truck is over kill. 125$ or not at your shop the system is not suitable for that tiny truck. You also have no idea wether the diffs are going to explode or not with the upgraded center diff do to the fact nobody has it yet. You also don't have to explain the concept of a center diff to me. I have been in this hobby for 20 years. I still wouldn't buy a vxl system for 120$ That ESC is a relic how long it's been out.
