Traxxas Slash Mudboss race - Box stock vs. Tuned who wins?

The Mudboss name has been removed from the box and the new name is the Traxxas Slash Modified. This is the first race at Pheasantland RC Park with the new car

Did any of you put the tires on a foam buster?

some put tires on the foam buster, some prepped, some changed shock oil.. mine was stock out of the box. But give it a few weeks, good setups will start producing faster lap times

The new modified will be out in a couple months new price will be $449. The one without a body will be $429. Nobody seems to understand what the deal was sales are down and that's all RC brands are down on sales Traxxas already had all the parts except the body and the tires.

I’m curious, is there anything on the car or stickers included that actually say mud boss on the existing cars? Or is it just a change on the box? I bet silly people will try to inflate the market on the ones that say “mudboss” 😂😂 I love my slashes but I don’t have an oval track around me, if I did I’d definitely get one!

The car does not say Mudboss anywhere on it. Traxxas does use Traxxas branded tape to seal the box. The Traxxas Slash Mudboss was only sold for 2 weeks. Collectors will scarf them up quick. I bought a 2nd car. One to race and one for the shelf still sealed.

@@OvalRC that’s what I was thinking, I saw one the other day at the hobby shop, looks awesome! Nice upgraded parts for sure! Reminds me of when they first started making the Spartan but were calling it the Titan, I think that was just for promo initially and never even got to stores before they changed it to Spartan

@@OvalRC Did they ever release any details as to why they changed the name? Did the Salvas brothers get involved or did something else happen that forced Traxxas's hand at a name change? The "Slash Modified" name fits better at least. However it will make searching for things hell because at this point on the internet every slash has been "modified" so RIP Google search ability.

Will the Traxxas haters give them credit for the name change? They should. Salvas and others have created a cool niche, and I'm glad to see that a big player is willing to give them a little space. I think that the 'Modified' chassis will eventually take over, but if tracks want to mandate the Salvas-style body, there's no reason the small parts makers can't continue to do well.

If traxxas wants to make an Oval RC car I will let them in a heart beat. They are the world leader in RC. They reach millions more people than i can ever reach. Traxxas doesn't need the word mudboss to sell cars. I think Salvas passed up a huge opportunity if you ask me.

Salvas has tried multiple times since 2014 to partner with traxxas. Traxxas is the one that passed it up.
