Nice video and cool backflips buddy. Oh the blight of the Pede that is the broken drive shaft. Ive even managed to break on in a 2wd with a NiMh pack. Traxxas really needs to sort that out on an otherwise indestructable truck
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with everything else, just those driveshafts are just way too weak. Granted, I was really pushing the truck's capabilities (that was the point, anyway), but the design of those driveshafts dates back over a decade ago and no improvements on quality or design have been made during that time.
@ericdamexican11 жыл бұрын
Guess I should of finished the video before commenting! You found out on your own! Bummer!
@EVERYDAYRC11 жыл бұрын
Great Video Vas. The trucks jumps nicely but seems a bit out of control on 3s. That darn wheely bar seems to get in the way as well. I think the Halix wins for control obvi with the AVC. No offense but I'm glad to see the stampede break a driveshaft. Looks to be an even match at this point. Great job on your back flips as well . Now we just need to back flip our Halix's!!!!!
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
I'm going to take bothe of them back to the track at a later stage and try to be more civilised with my driving. Now that I know what the weak points are, it's time to drive them both a little better and see that they can do. But you're right, they are pretty evenly match, at least it seems that way... Haha. I'm pretty set on which I prefer, but I'll leave that for the reviews. Thanks for watching :)

hey i just got a stampede 4x4 vxl and my drive shaft broke and i got the steel one and that fixed the problem.
@velikon11 жыл бұрын
Great vid mate. I had the same issue with drive shafts exploding on my slash 4x4 platinum, on 3s. Purchased the MIP X-Duty telescopic drive shafts to fix. I kinda wish i bought the stampede 4x4 instead. Looks a lot more fun for bashing!
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
Well, I have a Slash 4x4 LCG Ultimate and I find the Slash to be a better drive. Sure, the Stampede is fun, but it's not made for driving as such and doesn't handle all that well. Don't feel disheartened by your purchase, you have the better car. :)

this truck is wicked. though as soon as I started using 3s bit started breaking. I upgraded drive shaft to a hardened steel set off amain hobbies and went to a diff instead of using the slipper clutch, made it way more drivable on tracks, the motor crapped itself though I may been a driver fault, so bought another branded one same power just a lot cheaper than the velinion motor. truck is rock solid now. hitting jumps getting 20ft + high and landing on flat and nothing happens to it. I would buy this truck again, would be good if there was rolling body kit without rc gear.
@olds97lss6 жыл бұрын
Do you recall what motor you went with?

3:21 full throttle then driveshaft hits the ground. You can hear the snap when it broke.

@ericdamexican11 жыл бұрын
That little beast will need some CVd's (MIP) cuz 3s will shred those shafts!! Good news is you really only need the rears! And watch the hexes, that thing is overpowered on 3s, but a blast! Cheers!
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
It's not that fast, sorry, the Halix is way faster... Driveshafts in a truck this old should not be this bad for this long. Traxxas should know better by now. The Stampede is a lot of fun, there's no denying that, but pouring money into a truck that should be almost bullet proof after being out for so many years makes no sense to me. Thanks :)
@paveljones566611 жыл бұрын
I've never seen anyone abuse a RC car that much in my life, But thanks for the durability test :) I'd like to see how long the electronics will last on 3S. The power is good but they always overheat. You might wantta upgrade to a 4 pole motor with your steel shafts, so the ESC and motor will run cooler especially on 3S.
@simmyqux11 жыл бұрын
Afraid the stock VXL esc doesn't like 4 pole motors :( You would have to get a complete system.
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
Well, I was told the Stampede could take it. LOL. I will say, a lot of the bad landings and crashes were NOT intentional, but when you think about how the car was punished in this run, to walk away with only a broken driveshaft is not a such a bad thing.

@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
Thank you Zack. I'm not sure what diff oil the Stampede comes with, but maybe try the Traxxas website or even shot through an email to Traxxas support to find out. They would be the best people to ask about that one. Thank you very much for your support, buddy. Very much appreciated. :)

Woaahhh,,that thing is banana's Vas!!! i have realised that i need source a better centre diff for my 1/8 as it is fine on gravel but does not like high traction,,, but just posted a half decent run vid on gravel, And about to try get a short of my mini phsyco out front while the sun is shinning here in Scotland,, love your vids mate,,, and i know not to put 3s into my upgraded volcano!!! 😀

Like I said on ur unboxing. MIPS are great axles. The cross pins are just crap. To brittle. I have used them on my emaxx. I prefer the traxxas steel ones myself. If u want bulletproof axles MIP axles and gets some lunsford titanium cross pins. That should be a tank. And shock caps I alum :)

Yeah that happens when you just leave the trigger planted for the whole time it's in the air and landing. A little finesse and mechanical sympathy is the best upgrade for anything ;)
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
There's a reason why I drive like this buddy. Besides, I was told the Stampede is a better truck than the Vaterra Halix and that it was better value... I'm yet to find it. Thanks for watching...
@Rex_Stuph11 жыл бұрын
I can understand why ;) but, and just a thought, it might be helpful to mention in the destruction tests that that is exactly what you are doing. Some folks might get the idea that is the "proper" way to drive something powered to it's max and expect no repercussions over an extended period.
@jackchase799 жыл бұрын
I'm late to the party on this comment but seemed like he really really really wanted this truck to fail and fall. Yet the halix was a miserable failure compared to this.
@168grhp7 жыл бұрын
When you get bored with finesse and mechanical sympathy, Tekno (or MIP) drive shafts and Traxxas aluminum shock caps are awesome upgrades for this truck.
@JKZ1036 жыл бұрын
Steven Arnold the stampede and traxxas for that matter are notorious for not being able to hold power without breaking. I have spent hundreds upgrading about 5 traxxas vehicles and they just suck. Then i found arrma and tekno etc.... sold all the traxxas cars on eBay and took a huge loss but they are someone else's problem now😃 it's so nice to buy a car and not have to totally rebuild it! I can see a traxxas fool/fan from a mile away!!! They are old news.... so many better products on the market than plastic overpriced junk imo!

stampede shocks are always too stiff for their weight..weight transfer during throtlle kind of shows off the deseign flaws of the pede and turn it into a canyon... I suggest sticking a large 6 cell nimh battry inside the body shell towards the front. that or installing progressive shocks in the front.

Did ya make any driveshafts into licorice? Lol I can't even not twist them on 3a
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
My old E-Maxx has the twisted shafts from years of use, but these are not. They are damaged near the pivot points and I doubt they will last much longer, even on 2S. It's just a poor design that should have been changed years ago. Traxxas is just too lazy to do so, I think, and probably don't care either...

The thing i dont like about traxxas is they make you pay a lot of money for their rtr vehicles and they all have major flaws that should be fixed by the factory as you are paying a lot of money for example erevo brushless edition is $1100 in australia and they still include plastic driveshafts and rubbish stock tyres. By the way this is not against you, you make good quality content
@AussieRCPlayground11 жыл бұрын
I hear ya... We pay good money for some of these kits and still have to budget for upgrades. These days, anything over $500 shouldn't require upgrades to improve durability and if they do, it should be the absolute minimum. Thanks for the feedback and the support. :)
