He's a baller. He slots in perfectly on both ends. As good as he's shown he's still underappreciated even by Warrior fans. Underrated passer. It's his mobility on defense, one-on-one and as a help defender that helps this team most. His ability to run the floor, catch and finish lobs, and ability to ambidextrously exploit his reach are also key. His quick feet, constant motor and reach compensate for being an eyelash under 6' 10". This dude is a keeper. I want him to keep refining his passing and develop a mid-range J.

@SwishCultureАй бұрын
Poorly worded on my part. Trayce wasn't able to get in front of NBA scouts on multiple occasions due to COVID. This was the difficulty he had, not in terms of gaining experience, but gaining the right exposure. Hope that clears it up. Thanks!
@brianb2783Ай бұрын
@@SwishCulture I would agree about Covid holding him back, and the fact that he didn't demonstrate any outside shooting ability didn't help him either. I think that's the main reason he fell so far in the draft. But his senior year, he really elevated his entire game and became a leader. His passing and defense were especially great. Thanks for the video. I'm a big IU and TJD fan and will continue to root for him despite being a Pacers fan.

In order for this team to be relevant next season we need our young guns to be ready to take the next step. Kerr had a leash on Moody for the longest it's time to set him free. TJD is athletic and he's a great rim protector so with that being said our starting lineup for next season needs to be Steph Moody Kuminga Draymond TJD Wiggins is not reliable anymore so he needs to come off the bench. I like Moody in the starting lineup over Buddy simply because he plays better defense and is overdue. Draymond don't have a chance against the likes of AD, Jokic, Wemby and Chet so we need to stop living in a fantasy world. I feel Kuminga and Moody are both going to have a breakout season with Kuminga proving he's worth the money he's asking for and Moody showing why we need to move on from Wiggins asap.

TJD is a good mid-sized NBA player, but he's not big enough to succeed without an outside shot. The NBA is getting increasingly crowded with 6'9"+, athletic, knockdown shooters. He's a big deal--on GSW--because their only Dubs' player taller than TJD is rookie Quinten Post, who's a 7'0" athletic, rim-protecting, knockdown shooter at all levels. TJD is a younger Kevon Looney, maybe. Now, Looney alleges a revival of the scoring abilities that got him drafted in the 1st round out of UCLA. TJD hasn't had an official 3-pt. "attempt" in his last 3 seasons. However, last summer, at a pre-draft combine, in a 3-pt. drill, TJD hit 10-25 (40%), so the apparent skill is there. If he sticks to his inside game, he's becoming an outsider, since all of the current roster can play above the rim, and they're loaded with outside shooters. BTW, TJD caught rookie Wemby flat-footed on that poster. Now, Wemby will encourage to shoot from the top of of the key. Meanwhile, Quinten Post can already score either way and at midrange, with a nice handle. TJD and Post are not mutually exclusive--on a GSW team that's been sorely undersized since 2022. TJD won't grow more, so he'd better follow Looney's example, which followed Draymond's example (2nd on to Steph in 3P%).
@KingRedLion2 ай бұрын
Has QPost even been signed to any type of contract already? Because sure as hell he can shoot, but that's all he does and is an unproven guy at the NBA level, especially compared to TJD, who's an excellent paint defender along with having proven last season that he's a steal and worth a starter's spot toward the end of the season. TJD and QPost, it ain't even close.
@SwishCulture2 ай бұрын
TJD is currently a much better option at the 5. For matchups however and to allow the other guys to work, we might see some switch ups. Ideally, reliable shooting from JK solves a lot of problems for the Warriors. Reliable meaning opponents take him seriously outside the arc. I think he has a much better chance of becoming a very good defender in a shorter time frame so I'm hoping to see some of that come next season. Post has a lot of work to do as the Warriors plan to give him what I call the probation contract (2-way deal), but they've still gotta jump through a few hoops.
@theinktician2 ай бұрын
@@SwishCulture TJD can realistically take Draymonds place very VERY soon. Bogut took Draymond under his wing on defense while he got help with his passing from other players on the roster (and prob Steve Nash like Steph did in the off seasons 2011 2012). If Post can prove he can be a roller that can pass, he can fit in the lineup. Limited minutes, but I do believe he can be more than what Speights was

What Im saying might sound wild, but TJD is a four year player like Draymond. Swish said he was sidelined till his last year, I vividly remember him playing all four years. He gave my Tarheels fits the past 3 years, and he's been considered a premiere player in the Big 10 for years.
@SwishCulture2 ай бұрын
@@theinktician Trayce played all four years but he had COVID which affected his performance each of his first three years. I apologize if that wasn't clear. Steve tried him at the 4 and though there was some issue, TJD does have experience playing the 4 so I think that's in the works. He needs at least a serviceable jumper to move to PF or at least a mid range. Still, he's got more size than Dray and more athleticism than Loon. He might be a better version of the latter.

The thing that is holding Trayce back is JK and their rotation order. JK has a higher place in the rotation because he is seen as having more potential. That's why he gets more playing time. But JK is a one dimensional althletic player while Trayce is better at making the team better because he does the things that pure basketball players do to help their team. All of JK's highlights are of him driving. Trayce reminds me of Lamar Odom where what he does, does not show up on the stat sheet. Its also the reason why the Warriors had no chance of get Laurie Markenen. JK is not a peice that other teams want or need. And that is also why JK has not recieved an extension. Because he values himself too much. Trayce is more valuable than JK because he's more versatile. But no one is picking Trayce over Kuminga. I think Trayce's skills are more sustainable into the future and may have a better career than Kuminga.
