Walking The Wyrd

Күн бұрын

Farleigh Hungerford Castle looks like the quintessential English ruin yet underneath the surface, lies a history bound with tales of treachery, infidelity, sorcery, wrongful imprisonment, murder and deceit!
Built in 1370, the castle remined in the same family for 300 years. Things started well for the Hungerford family who had great prestige and respect. However, as the castle passed down through the family, things started to get darker and more sinister.
Join me as I explore both the castle ruins and the tales of this remarkable castle!

What a lovely informative video, thank you 🙂 When my parents lived in Farleigh Hungerford we would go to a candle-lit carol service in the chapel, it was magical The crypt still scares me! Hungerford bridge in London is named after the Hungerford family, as they owned a house on the site of Charing Cross station.

Gosh, that candle-lit carol service sounds wonderful! The crypt is not a nice place to be, I agree! Thank you very much for watching 🙂

Not really. The crypt felt kinda spooky, but I think that's just psychological knowing that there's bodies down there. Great place to explore!

@walkingthewyrd I'm near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I can drive 20 minutes and be in the mountains. I love living here. If you ever get to visit, I wouldn't recommend winter. We frequently measure snow in FEET.😂

The story in the crypt was horrifying! You think you can't possibly hear another story worse than what you already know of human depravity and then you hear this. Uurgghh! Lovely ruined castle though.

Once again a beautiful and interesting walk, but I prefer a drink from a glass than from a coffin, although tequila with a worm is also drunk, no, I'd rather not. 💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯👍🏻

If the foundations are anything to go by the castle must have been impressive in its day and the chapel interior is so beautiful. Those Victorians really were game for anything maniacs. If ever a castle was cursed it's definitely that one with all the nefarious activities!...and that's the first time I've heard anyone use the B word on youtube!😆

Having watched & enjoyed the video, I am prepared to concede that there may be other ruined castles that have less associations with "treachery, infidelity, sorcery, wrongful imprisonment, murder and deceit!" But come on this is english history we are talking about. I wonder if anyone has done a top ten on the subject? Bye!
