This still amazes me!! Tim, you inspire me to do better in all my sewing projects. I love my 1910 Singer treadle.

Thanks, Tim. I've admired many quilter's machine "painting" but had never seen how it was actually done. As mentioned before, my 201-2 isn't treadle, but you are inspiring me, unbelievably.

Very impressive to see how this machine handles the thread so smoothly! I have a 1909 White Family Rotary and, after watching your demonstration, look forward to trying it on my machine. Nice job, Tim!

You've inspired me to try this on my new Janome treadle machine. Thank you. I like the thread you used for this. Can you tell me what color/brand it is? Also, what is the white piece on the machine bed with the feed dog cutout?

Добрый день! Я понимаю, что работа очень кропотливая, потому что даже с далека видно, что очень красиво. Но хотелось бы посмотреть ход работы поближе и детальнее. Спасибо из Белоруссии.

That is no rats nest. My singer 1891 vs2/27 seemed to be going great. The tension was set up just like you have with the top being looser than the bottom. Everything sounded fine and then it suddenly seized. It was so strange the needle didn't even want to go back up. The cloth was to loose and the bottom thread was catching the needle thread some times and in winding a lot under the needle plate blank. I tilted back the machine to find the thread had bunched up between the shuttle and the needle plate to the point it stopped the shuttle and needle and pressed the shuttle arm out of place!!! It was sewing fine before that doing embroidery. I put the shuttle swing arm back to the correct spot to pick up the thread and goes fine since. I never figured out why it did that though. I have the timing for my hand movement to the timing of the swing of the arm is all i can come up with and maybe had the shuttle tension too loose. There was nothing though to make me think any thing was going wrong under that plate though.

I had that happen to one of my 27's ...the thread somehow came out the the proper position on the shuttle ( came out from the slot under the tensioner) so was just pulling out freely and making a mess underneath

By any chance do you have a singer 500a that you could do this on? Because I have a hoop and I thread it up right and it just doesn't want to work right.
@TimLatimerquilts8 жыл бұрын
I dont have a 500.......so I have not been able to try it out on that series of machines.......I think it would work if you used a free motion/darning foot......

I have a singer 1913 tredle. What do I need so I can embroider with it. I would love to use my great grandma machine
@TimLatimerquilts7 жыл бұрын
I dont think you need anything other than a hoop......you will want to adjust the tension so it is loose on the top...and use a thinner thread in the bobbin makes it easier (like a 60 or 70 wt thread)

I was wondering why you don't have a footer. When I take my footer of my sewing machine (non-treadle) I end up with bunched thread :(
@TimLatimerquilts7 жыл бұрын
it is the traditional way to do machine embroidery on these old machines ......no foot so you can really see what you are doing, but you must use a hoop, and go very very slow and it takes some time to adjust the tension properly to make it work, loos top tension and a bit tighter bottom tension
