My wife and I did that hike from Kas town. We did not really intend to go that far as we were not prepared wearing only basic sandals and not much water. The worst part was getting down to Limigatzi beach. We had to traverse across a narrow ledge on the cliff face with just a tatty piece of rope to hold onto and it was a long way down and I am not good on heights. We were relieved to find out that we could catch the boat back so that’s what we did. In the following years we have had many trips to Limigatzi but always use the water taxi. We were both in our late 60s when we were tackling that cliff and it gives me shivers just thinking about it.
@barneeey3 жыл бұрын
Oh it's so great that you did that in your 60s. I seriously respect that. Me and my now wife then girlfriend did the same, walking to Limanagzi and taking the boat back, 5 years ago and I was 26 and still it was quite hard for us too. But Chris and Marianne missed the Lycian tombs on the cliffs. They were so close. I think after the cliff tombs it was hard.

Great video, bbq and sunset- perfect, we’re very excited that Turkey should be on the green list for the summer, we’re booked to go in August, well it’s last years holiday deferred to this year. Not sure if you have noticed but the prices for holidays in Turkey this summer have shot up about 50% more. Do you think that when the holiday makers are allowed back the exchange rate will drop back to its normal level of about 5 tl to the pound?, ps in Llandudno today we had a high of 7degrees, ☹️

Another lovely vlog from you guys. We just love you and your adventures. Please keep 'em coming. For this reason alone, please keep off any cliff-side pathways. Also, you may have not yet encountered but in those thick bushes and shrubbery and in warmer weather you might come across and invade (inadvertently, of course) the living space of a snake or two. Most of them are harmless but will give you a start if you aren't expecting to see. Also, if you're going exploring that kind of bushes and wild vegetation wearing shorts may not be the best idea - not least because of thorny thistles and poison ivy... Cheers!

You were on still on the trail at the metal electricity towers at the top of the cliff. You lost the main trail just after that as it works the way down past the Lycian tombs where the rope is there for people to hold on to. Where you saw the fork in the trail earlier if you take that fork heading inland you will come down the cliff where it is much lower though the trail is slightly longer and requires you turn back (right) at the bottom of the cliff to get the the cafes and beach. In between the trail you took and the other trail inland if you go off trail doing battle through the trees and scrub brush to the highest part of the cliff you will find an ancient Lycian settlement/fortress surrounded by 3 meters stone walls with cyclopean masonry in the largest building at the top of the cliff with amazing views out over the bay and towards the island of Meis/Kastellorizo.

Chris, that fruit tree, here in the US, is called a Japanese plum tree, but also known as loquat..
@saitfaik54563 жыл бұрын
You are right, it is Loquat, yet it is called Malta Erigi (Maltese Plum) in Turkey. It grows all along the coastal areas along the Mediterranean, Aegean and even the Black Sea. Mom has got a few of them in her yard in Adapazari, each gives a couple of hundreds every year. And I love them.
