Hi Peter I bought some Epoxie Resin adhesive from Oz Mosaics thinking it was this but maybe another brand. But it’s a honey consistency. No way could I roll it out into a sausage. It’s like tar.

Hi Annette, I haven't used that one, if you're not sure where or how to use it, just give them a call, I'm sure it will come in handy. The brand I generally use is Aves Apoxie Sculpt and is widely available to buy on line here in Australia. Thankyou for watching. :)

Thank you for this detailed video. Hmmm. Is there a safer version of this stuff? Something that is friendlier to my health?
@TreasuryRoad11 ай бұрын
Thankyou very much. The simple answer is no, most products contain some type of chemicals. This is why it’s a good idea to read the safety data sheets to protect your health so you can take the necessary safety precautions. This will limit the exposure down, like any product it’s knowing what you are dealing with and using the product safely. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😊

If using the apoxy sculpt to apply beads, so you scrape out the bits in between the beads so the grout will apply to the substrate?
@TreasuryRoad2 жыл бұрын
When you embed the beads into the AS you are only embedding them part way. The AS shouldn’t go to the very top, this way you will avoid a lot of cleaning up. If you happen to get the AS to the top then you will need to scrape it away and wipe the beads over with water to take away any of its residue. How far you embed the beads is realative to the size of the beads. 😊

Thanks for all your videos, Peter. Is Apoxie neutral-curing? I was wanting to use it to adhere some mirrored glass to brick and mortar (via fibreglass mesh) in an outdoor setting, then grout with Litokol translucent grout.
@TreasuryRoad Жыл бұрын
Thankyou so much Paula. That's a good question, I have been using Apoxie Sculpt for years with mirror without any issues. Sharra Frank is a well known artist and she has also been using it with mirror also successfully. I don't have any technical data to say if its its neutral curing or not so I cannot guarantee it. :)

Question: I used Apoxy Sculpt and put flat filati in it, and it's been about 6 months and suddenly the filati is coming out. Any idea why? I also tried putting it on stainless steel and the circular piece of metal came off the back of it a while later.
@TreasuryRoad5 ай бұрын
There are so many reasons why this has happened and without knowing a lot more it could be any number of them. It could be that the AS wasn't mixed thoroughly, or the Filati wasn't embedded enough into the AS, you exceeded the amount of time to best work with AS for its stickiness, residue on the stainless steel, etc.

Thanks for your videos, they are always informative. Do you know if you can add colour to the epoxy? Using paint for instance?
@TreasuryRoad3 жыл бұрын
The Epoxy Clay does come in different colours. Apparently dry powder pigments works and also acrylic paint, you would need to do a test as I have tinted it before but have read a few articles of Taxidermy's doing it, also the shade will change from freshly tinting it to when its cured. :)

Can you grout over epoxy clay?
@TreasuryRoad3 жыл бұрын
Generally the sanded grout will wipe straight off the Apoxie Sculpt, I always clear the grout lines, I would think it may happen to all the different brands however testing would be required. :)

can I use that ApoXie clay to make Jewelry?
@TreasuryRoad2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of jewellery, if you are talking about using it in bezels, my favourite is Apoxie Sculpt for that. If you are creating assemblage jewellery then you are better off with E6000. Although its toxic its still the best to use in assemblage so take the necessary safety precautions. :)
