Hi Pam, yes actually I did do a video regarding ketogenic diets and that’s a good starting point. If you search “keto” on the channel search you’ll surely find it and it’s also in the podcast playlist. AMA is on Fridays so you won’t miss it today. :-)

He has neglected to mention that once you find a professional Parkinson's exercise program such as LSVT Big or other insurance companies decide you have had enough visits to the physical therapist and the insurance company takes a break from covering the cost. This has happened to me more than once. I end up back with a different physical therapist who wants only to treat parts of my body such as the osteoarthritis in my knee.

This is rarely an issue with Medicare. But commercial plans are greedy and just want to keep their money. With Medicare it’s about medical necessity and we have patients that are on maintenance that’s covered by insurance when necessary. When completing therapy it’s not expected to just continue as long as you want. That’s not how the system works. But the group programs are available as I mentioned. It’s like a gym membership, you invest in yourself to keep up your programs. One more thought: if your therapy groups aren’t willing to do LSVT BIG more than once then they are doing it wrong. You could do it annually if you needed to, or even if it wasn’t the full protocol you could do a tune up at maybe twice per week for a short term. If clinics are refusing this due to insurance then they are ignorant of how to bill properly. If you can prove medical necessity then you can bill Medicare, for example, regardless of how many visits you’ve had in the year

I wish my husband could do LSVT but he doesn't have the energy and it was determined he couldn't endure the program related to his very slow, stiff bradykinesia. He has rapid progressive Parkinson's and he was recently discharged from his PT because he wasn't improving

Really… that’s surprising to me

@@parkinsonsdiseaseeducationI wish I was lying and being an RN I've seen Parkinson's before but never such a rapid progressive one such as my husband's. He experiences terrible vertigo and his bowel ( constipation) and stomach issues have been extremely difficult to treat. He has an upper endoscopy scheduled for 12/31. Colonoscopy clear two years ago.

Ok so sorry to hear his case is so awful. I shouldn’t be completely surprised because there are definitely some patients who aren’t a candidate for LSVT for various reasons
