I’d love to know more about this down regulation in regard to the olfactory receptors. It sounds like my exact issue 16 months post COVID. I’ll have great days and can smell just about everything and I feel relatively normal, but within 24 hours everything can become muted and some smells gone all together. It’s frustrating to say the least. At this point I’ve accept I may never get all my smell back, but it’s the ups and downs that really bother me.

I always enjoy listening to videos or reading about olfactory research. Aside from being personally affected by it, its just overall interesting.

More and more people are finding positive results with SGB. We've not done it yet because the info from AbScent, but I would love to get an update on this to know if that's still true or not. In other Parosmia support groups I'm in there are success stories almost daily. It doesn't work for everyone, but the number of success stories seem too large to be mere coincidence of timing.

At AbScent, we only share information that is supported by scientific evidence. So sometimes when there is a lot of noise on social media about a treatment - like stellate ganglion block - it might appear that we’re missing something if we’re not talking about it too. But thanks to the excellent support of the AbScent Advisory Panel, made up of some of the world’s leading doctors and researchers, we get to hear about the treatments that do work and avoid things that are not based on facts. Read more about our insight on stellate ganglion block here: abscent.org/insights-blog/blog/stellate-ganglion-block

I can initially recognize a food but then quickly have its taste flatline. What steroid or intervention is likely to restore suppressed nerve function? Is my condition permanent? Thanks for this excellent webinar!!

Omg...right? I am loosing weight too fast because of the heat. Its awful. I cannot tell if meat or food is rotten or old.. Its fully debilitating. I tried the essential oils.. I cannot identify any of the 35 plus scents. Before all this is i had an over active olfactory. And could smell my neighbor crossing the street. Lol..her perfume shampoo and detergent... Now ... Toothpaste tastes like gasoline .. Normal stuff tastes like poison or ... A death I cannot explain. But I cannot smell actual rotten things... Ir chemicals like bleach or ammonia... Everything is backwards. At first it was funny. 😶 Now... My quality of life is zilch. Horrifying. This is a disability. Its not safe.

It has been over a year that I cannot taste & smell which started during getting COVID in 2022. I also get strange phantom smells like a sort of salty, gasoline unpleasant smell that doesn’t make sense. I can sense of something is savory or sweet. Sometimes I think I can smell but it goes away and then nothing. I tried the essential oils. That didn’t help. I also have tinnitus from before. It is depressing. I tried to get into the UCLA Long COVID Program but I don’t think I can get in because you have to prove you had COVID. It is all frustrating. Thank you for your video. I wonder if there are other symptoms of Long COVID I have but don’t realize. I have frequent numbness in my body. Is that something?
