it's kinda crazy how differently skill is split upon low elo players. like, they all have some attributes that would be considered far above the skill of their ranking, but then have some baffling comeuppances to balance them out. Red had the strategy and planning of someone with much higher ranking, and yet doesn't know about the blacksmith, at 830 elo.

As a low ELO player, it's really hard to know how your opponent is doing in terms of resources. Sometimes I think I've got them bankrupt, but it turns out they still had a lot of resources left. And I guess that's what red thought here... blue kept on chopping wood for a long time from those few trees left over, and just at the end he was finally starting to actually run out, but red couldn't see that.

@@noakeyharding9437 it does make sense when he throw his units to castles and attacking a market with his elephants, you don't have to be the viper to not throw away your units to castles and to tunnel vision on attacking buildings with units instead of siege, it does not need rocket science. Everyone can improve from their mistakes so yes if red didn't throw away his units he would have won very easily, if you want to improve too you should check your replays and see what ifs would have won you the game to learn from your mistakes.

It's not historical, it's just the way it is, bells are loud. That's why they've been used in every single village as some kind of Internet feed since the Dark Age. You can hear them from a mile away but it has never bothered me anywhere. Unless you are the bell ringer yourself, you're not gonna go deaf.

I've always prioritised micro over strategy. I just like dodging attacks and wrecking enemies with a weak army that has no right to beat them. I started out with AOE1. The 50 pop cap and lack of formations made control of individual units much more important than in AoE2.

I love this kinda gameplay. I've always loved playing RTS games where you just completely starve your opponent on resources. Some of my favorite SC2 games are ones that just go so long the map is exhausted of resources and players have to start making strange economical decisions when they see the writing on the wall / do crazy defenses where they trade out incredibly efficiently. It's fantastic seeing the LEL takes on that where you actively rob your opponent of resources, I think that's why I loved early Ace of Emeralds so much - it's that mentality that you're going to take the game all the way until the map is exhausted and you'll win because you "stole" some of their resources before they figured out it would go that way.

I've played Starcraft (both 1 and 2) games like that, but, to be honest, I hate them. I prefer games where both players are able to expand to 3-5 bases and then fight to the death. Games that go beyond that become tedious and stressful. They can be interesting to watch, but I don't like playing games that end up with the whole map mined out.

Thats LEL in a nutshell. Its always either 100-IQ strats with 0-IQ executions, or 1000-IQ executions of 0-IQ strats.

T90 said at the beginning that 800elo gets defensive about being classed as LEL. For me, 800 is still too damned high! I have omitted too much of my normal Sim City behavior to try and play online, thinking I'd end up sub-500 regardless. After ten games I was around 900. Now after 20 games I've slipped to 815 or so, and I really hope 700-ish is my people. Even the wins up to this point have been deeply unsatisfying due to how ugly my base has to be laid out to try and keep pace. In my last win I actually made T90 farms, it caused me a great deal of mental anguish and the W was no consolation whatsoever 11 What's the point in winning if your civilization looks like it lives in chaotic squalor?! I also never would have imagined an RTS could leave me with sweaty palms. So I'm basically gonna 'throw' games, which is to say I'm gonna revert back to wasting colossal amounts of time agonizing over farm placement and such until I'm up against people who do the same. I won't stop until I match up against someone who likewise places the blacksmith in between farms and military buildings (since the smith has to make/repair all the farmers' tools AND equip an entire army, what a logistics nightmare). Ideally, a second smithy goes up in later ages to keep pace with a growing populace-- welcome to Sim City 1400. My brother just got me DE for Christmas, and it's all T90's fault that I ventured outside my bubble after 23 years of ignorant BLISS...

I think since the top like 100 are over 2500 Elo and players begin ranked play at 1000, anything below that level would be low. It’s average for sure, but is a low average. I am low elo.
