The neighbor has one and in the fall the squirrels bury the nuts all around my landscape. So in spring and summer I find them randomly growing around and dig them up.

My neighbour has a massive black walnut tree in his backyard (which overhangs our backyard) and every autumn it drops a ton of fruit... we don't eat it, but the squirrels certainly do have a feast on their hands.

My neighbor, Don Walnut, had his tree dropping walnuts in our yard every year and asked us to pick them up. I said no.

Mediocre. Leaves a lot of ash behind too.

This guy likes cemetaries. Also, everyone i have asked about burr oaks has said it is a more rapid growing tree. Similar to a monterey oak. This same info can be found in books and online but he says that it is slow growing.....?

I picked up some Burr Oak acorns from Central Ohio. I plan to plant them and see how well they grow in Central Florida.

"Delicious nuts"? Oh! If you are talking about squirrels finding the meat inside the seeds of the Black Walnut trees. Now English Walnuts are sold in grocery stores, because humans enjoy the favor of the meat of English Walnut seeds, but not Black Walnut.

Black walnuts are harder to crack and process. They taste great too.

@@GibbSaw63 Butternut meat tastes better than black walnuts in my tasting tests. Now I live in Florida and it is all about pecans.

If you’re trying to propagate these by burying the nuts, (unprotected) expect squirrels to dig up and kill 99% of them. Ask me how I know 🤦♂️
