I've had nothing but problems with Isospeed on my Gen6. Nothing fixed it. It kept loosing and then rocking from side to side by a lot making it very uncomfortable. We changed the whole bushing/bolt system according to Trek's service bulletin: problem came back. Changed the whole seatmast: problem came back. I ended-up having to warranty the whole frame. Luckily, the Gen7 was out at that point and I had the option of moving to the new design which I did. The isospeed is a failure for so many people, it's no surprise that they removed it from the new design. They claim it was a matter of weight saving but you don't have to search deep to find legions of people who experienced the same thing as me. The warranty process was slow and frustrating but at least it came through. I'll never say this enough: either new or used: Stay away from Gen6 Madones due to the isospeed.

Also, I’m with JD (and commentators like Durianrider) when it comes to Lance. He exploded and forever changed cycling and its popularity, and not just for Americans. He made Trek so much money. Do you really think people avoid buying Trek because of Lance? Hell no. If anything, it’s probably still an unspoken selling point for them. I also think the cancer research money he helped bring in totally cancels out the doping (which was predominant, and not just in the cycling world…sorry, that’s “whataboutism,” but it’s absolutely true). I strongly recommend the multipart “30 For 30” documentary about him (it’s not a hagiography, but a pretty balanced take).

Armstrong destroyed good people's lives, simply for telling the truth. He destroyed people's characters with his fame. That alone makes him a despicable human. The majority of Americans see him as a doper and cheater. Livestrong gives money to "cancer awareness" not much to research. In the first 10 yrs, Livestrong gave only $40million to research- in 10 years. Michale J Fox Foundation (similar size charity as Livestrong) gave $33million in 1 year. Lance would do charity rides for Livestrong- but get paid $400-500,000 for showing up. Livestrong management make six figure salaries. A lot of that dried up after he admitted to cheating. Trek has tried to distance itself from Lance. But they have history obviously. Armstrong is the same egomaniac he's always been. He has plenty of money. But he isn't anyone to look up to.

Nice to finally see JD’s bike. I see you in the vlogs and your fit does seem perfect; your cadence and overall posture is almost too consistent. Anyway, some points to criticize 🤣: Oompa asks “why not Specialized?” -“Out of my price range.” *watches rest of interview, finds out the bike is worth $15k+* Uhhh, wut? “I’ve tried to keep it mostly stock.” Dafuq? Bruv, no. You’ve dumped a ton of upgrades (not a bad thing!) into this steed. It is far and away from stock. Agreed about the quieting effect of OSPW. I bought a used 2013 S-Works SL4 with an OSPW and it’s noticeable-almost unsettling-how quiet it is when I’m pedaling. It definitely has a psychological effect and makes me feel like the ride is smoother. Great point that I haven’t seen mentioned.

Also the overall purchase experience, the 6560 definitely feels lot better and the build seems better too..

Enjoyed the interview. JD was well researched. Share his passion for cycling. Disagree with him that you need to spend that kind of money to get the speed he sought. Have a Triban 520 (purchased from Decathlon a year ago) and I have upgraded the wheels (superteam 45mm depth carbon ) , tires, seat, handle bar to get the weight down about 3 ibs. However its not a race bike (geometry is relaxed) . I made the decision about 3 months ago to upgrade to a race frame. Used a frame from a Chinese Chinese company named velobuild.. Their VB-R-168 has the same geometry as the tarmac sl7. Been setting new PR's since I setup the new frame. Next upgrade (in a month) will be to di2
@CALegendz2 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with you. 🤡 For me if you listen to the podcast I believe when you jump go straight from the bottom to the top. This is because the one part that can’t be upgraded is the frame, so If it’s within your budget why not go for the top tier frame? I believe doing what I did will save you money and is smarter. Secondly I liked the Trek look and it’s nice to have warranty on the frame. Again I was new to cycling so I thought it was best to get a well known brand from a reputable local shop. No offence. 😅

I disagree on the enve and Princeton are of the same level. Enve are handmade in USA. It comes with lifetime warranty and crash replacement scheme. Princeton in this case are factory made in China and do not have as good warranty as what enve has. Both are about the the same price. Performance wise maybe Princeton and Enve can be on the same.
