This video is so old that it’s possible no one will read this comment - but I have a few answers to questions of the two Show Personalities. I grew up with Saquist and I know every inch of this ship. I even have binders full of his old Enigma-Evolution designs at home. The ship was an early design as an answer to the Borg threat - was mothballed in favor of rolling out the Defiant. It is a WARSHIP. Few windows - you’ll notice that the outer hull isn’t pockmarked with structural weaknesses - less windows = more solid outer hull. The recessed C-shape curve at the bow of the ship, this is a phase-cannon. Similar in concept to the TOS style phase cannons, or to Defiant’s phase cannons. I don’t know if Saquist ever evolved this, but it was originally designed as a Pulse Cannon. The funny looking aft-facing platforms that make up the top few decks of the Saucer Section are WARP NACELLES. The saucer section can escape a battle at warp, and it can also detach from the saucer itself. The ship has three distinct hulls. The ‘Bridge Module’ is itself, a massive (sort of) Battle Captain’s Yacht. Every square centimeter of this ship was meticulously crafted and perfected over the course of a decade - a true labor of love. He designed it as an answer to those ships that had no apparent function in their design (Sci-Fi’s Andromeda or many other seemingly organic “Starfleet” ships. This vessel has purpose - it’s not a ‘flowie” organic that ‘looks cool’, there’s nothing on this ship that’s fluff. It’s 100%, in-your-face function. I adore this ship. It’s my #1 favorite design of all time. Gorgeous work Saquist. As always my friend.

I wonder if the bussards are covered under ablative armour? The way the nacelle looks it does look like voyager when armoured. I can see that slide back to expose the sovereign style bussards

I LOVE the progression of Starfleet design in this ship! The bussards are fine, the refit didn't have obvious glowy bits and I like that more realistic approach. A few more windows would be nice, but WOW, this ship is nearly perfect. And great renders Samuel; the closeups and lighting of the model's details are amazing and make all the difference. Great work all around guys! :)

I like the sleek neck part that connects upto the saucer section, dont know about the shaping of the neccelles though. I did a concept art of a fed starship, i called it USS Inquisitor - Tribune Class. Although I still got to finish the details.

I think I know what, not only the forward strip above the secondary deflector is (but also the one above it at the Saucer & Command separation area) are.. "Looking at them and how they are wrapping around" I do believe the designer has them as a set of Top/Forward Sensor Strips "atleast thats what I think that is what they're trying to do there (saucer one for mostly forward scanning during departure and solo navigation after separation (obviously a non-combat placement design) and the Warp Command sections one, with its round-a-bout 210 degree wraparound (for needed combat scanning)." Gonna call it now, the nacelles go down, not up and used for after saucer separation.The 4 small strips above the dish are just reflecting light but are again supposed to be used after saucer separation. I think the secondary hull is made for war which fits the armored all around aesthetic. Same thing with the warp nacelle shields to keep the ship mobile and becomes low profile if the need arises.

The Warp field pods on the bottom of the nacelle are interesting. Makes me wonder if this is some sort of support / logistics vessel. I could imagine this vessel maintaining warp fields and normalizing fleet warp speeds to maintain large fleet cohesion for fast skirmishing fleets or something. pretty cool to speculate on.

Speaking of challenges, I have one for you. I've been binge watching TOS lately now that I have the remastered BluRay set. I've also been rewatching Voyager for the first time in years, and in doing both simultaneously, I had a thought. Consider the mission of The Enterprise in TOS. The ship seemed to only really adhere to its mission maybe 30% of the total episodes. Too many visits to Earth, Federation colonies, star bases, etc. Voyager, on the other hand, by virtue of circumstance, was inadvertently fully immersed in the same mission as The Enterprise should have been. So my thought through all this was: what if we could take the opening credit sequence of Voyager, but insert the TOS theme, Kirk's naration, and have our original 1701 fly through all those starscapes, instead of Voyager? This is something I would love to see and I think it would be beautiful!

4:00 the impusle engines look like a hideki class| 10:00 that pod has a lot going on. if it had no impulse it made a bit more sense (how many impulse engines do you need?) well i guess this ship likes its impulse engines...

it would need them after the saucer has detached it loses like 4 primary impulse engines so the secondary hull needs the pod and nacelle ones

This is a very intricate design. I still think that this could be a slipstream ship those hinges on the nacelle pylon look like they could rotate either way rotate up for high warp and rotate down for a sleek slipstream profile like the dauntless had.

Great episode and the details put into this ship. Keep up the great work. I wonder if people are ever going to do more floor plans and not just side views.. it would be amazing. If i wanted to create something like that, what programs would you recommend and resources to create floor plans for these types of ships?

I use Auto CAD and Inventor 3D. The problem with this is that you really need a 3D model to make accurate floor plans so as to slice the appropriate locations for the correct cross section

I got the Maya 3d model and I am trying to apply the textures but there are so many parts of the ship it is quite difficult to figure it out which texture belongs to what part.

The lower torpedoes tubes are definitely detactable. It's like a Reliant style roll bare but for Constitution style ships. It can be replaced an AWACS pod of Tractor Beam Pod or augment crew quarters for evacuations.

Its a lot less dangerous for the passengers that way. When shields drop you get a lot of radiation and impact's banging on that Hull. When you are in an armored, sealed section you still have a chance of survival but Windows'?... meh. Not even with shutters. But please don't mix energy beam types. That's'just silly.

You're fortunate. These things retailed for about $22 U.S. I only need one more to add to my collection and can't find it anywhere for less than $52 now, without magazine, and those seem to be all from foreign sources (often, I suspect, factory rejects). Domestic retailers keep listing them as "expected" and will allow you to preorder, but I don't think they really expect them to ever come in again as the ETA times just keep getting pushed back.

Tim Walden yes it is, impulse power or impulse engines are basically fusion reactor powered rockets that use driver coils to compress and accelerate the plasma to the impulse exhaust manifolds as well as generate a low level subspace field.

Look at TOS remastered, or Phase 2. There was an article where some bloke took images of the original TOS model at the Smithsonian, and photoshopped it into scenes of various trek films, included the recent JJ films...and they looks amazing. And the TOS model looks particularly awesome in the TMP era films. Matt Jeffereies knew what he was doing ,folks.
