I still have a diesel but am going to sell it. I love my 7.3 and it tows my 5th wheel toy hauler with ease. No more diesel for me. No regrets.

Nice to see nothing has changed under a Ford in regards to space and clearance. My 97 F350, 460 with long tubes etc has some funky routing to dump out of the back

There are Borla exhaust and then there are all the other brands. I have Borla exhaust on a 2ss Camaro and a tundra. I’m asked quite often what kind of exhaust I have . The sound and quality of Borla exhaust is second to none.

No heat shielding on the other side of the spare tire, but it’s still the only amazing sounding 7.3 I’ve heard. Idk why, but those engines seem like they are never loud enough.

I did the same. Flowmaster scavenger Y to a xr1 mini to a full size xr1. Single all the way. No dual. I kinda wish i would of just went with 1 xr1 but dont think my wife and kids would like that much at near GVWR for 4 hrs straight

@@mattzeman2542 i think with just the mini placed under the pass side where the 1st big resonator case is would take the drone out and give a louder more raw tone. The mini by design according to Borla is more a resonator controller than a muffler. Ill say this you DO need that mini at least. The frequency of that particular drone would drive any one insane. And i also have an 18 5.0 mustang gt with flowmaster outlaws and an X. Drone is horrible. You wouldnt want that in a truck believe me. Its fine for a performance car that you dont spend much time in

I guess my question is why not run true duals rather than merge into a single to only “y” them back into duals? Extra cost on mufflers is one response I suppose but you spent extra time fabricating the pipes to merge.

Times have changed, 😂. We would never ask each other if our old school big/small blocks were too loud inside, or is it this or that. Headers, straight pipes and glass packs were the hot ticket back then. Now we have choices, and don't have to go deaf or have tennitus from having a great sounding exhaust.

I'm going to say it. Once this engine is out for a half cycle (2 years) they will pump it up a bit more, but could it be that this engine saved Ford Nation Pride? I think it sounds like the "Son of 460".

Any reason you didn't go with a true dual all the way back? Just curious! I also had exhaust tips come out like that on my 2014 F-150, I was off-roading and the tailpipe smacked the bottom of my bedside... an expensive lesson on exhaust tip placement for me! Haha. Sounds great though!

Yes sir, I wanted the Borla racing mufflers and wanted the big 3.5” sound without have two giant mufflers under the truck for clearance. Luckily my hitch hits first before my exhaust tips unless I’m at a bad angle.

Both are XR-1 mufflers. 3” one is 20” long and the other is the mini.

Have you had any issues with damage to that spare not having heat shields between it and the exhaust on the drivers side and front? Sounds great on video, I'd imagine it's even better in person.

At 12k miles I dropped spare to put it on a factory tremor wheel. No issues on the spare tire. With duals your cutting your heat by 50% so the pipes don’t get as hot.

@@cellphonelightsaber Exactly. It’s superior in every way to the 429/460 yet people still want to talk down on it. The 7.3 makes 430 hp and 475 lb ft of torque in SAE Net measurements which is way more than any 429/460 ever made.
