I always make this comment when people see this for the first time, but Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward have such great chemistry on screen together. One of the most believable friendships I've ever seen on film.

Rhonda LeBeck is a graduate student in geology (seismology). This indicates that she is smart. Also, far more than competent and comfortable working alone out in the back country; if less militant than the survivalist couple Bert and Heather Gummer. As a graduate student in geology back in the mid 1980's myself, I can testify that she is not at all atypical of the kind of person that is attracted to this field of science, regardless of gender. I know people very much like her. The script writers got this right.

My favorite characters have always been Burt and Heather Gummer played by Michael Gross and Reba McEntire, who I felt gave a spot-on interpretation of her gun-loving character. Their scenes really crack me up with their arguments of which gun is the most effective for penetration. They were the original Dooms-day preppers before that term was widely used. A, great singer. Also, hang around to the end credits to hear Reba's country hit, "Why Not Tonight", great tune

Since you asked and I hadn't seen anyone reply. The blue thing that was making the noise was a tumbler, it is designed to use the heavy vibrations with sand to clean the copper shells so you can reuse them.

There´s plenty more Tremors where that came from. Seven movies in total, plus a TV series. Burt has been the hero of the franchise for a long time now, but Kevin Bacon has mentioned returning as Valentine. I´ve only seen Parts 2 (OK), 3 (a lot of fun), 4 (the weakest film so far, but an interesting departure) and the series (awful). 5-7 still to go!

Great movie . I don't like usually horror movies but this is an exception because it is mixed with comedy. : ) Another great Kevin Bacon mixed supernatural horror film which is not well known is Stir of Echos 1999. A great Fred Ward movie is Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.
