I bought Greg's cookbook last Christmas. I am not a bodybuilder but was overweight and my doctor told me I needed to lose weight. I was 18 and a half stone last January and am down to 16 stone at the moment. I was eating too much of the wrong things. The cookbook is actually very good. Yes it's expensive but for your health's sake I think it is well worth it!

I like the general approach by Greg. Zooming in a bit.. what matters is how the human body synthesises the protein and how much of it actually goes to anabolic processes such as building muscle. But again, fully agree it’s pointless “following” a diet you won’t really stick to or an exercise you don’t feel connection to, etc

Now I eat a good hearty breakfast with a coffee and probably not eat again until dinner if I’m even hungry. I haven’t lost much weight but I feel great now and I’m not gaining weight. The goal for me was to regain muscle, strength, and losing weight is just gonna be an inevitable result from this since I’m not constantly eating and now feel satiated.

For people who genuinely struggle losing weight, maybe even for years or decades... I'd say $100 is NOTHING to ask for finally solving that. Also, the amount of money the average person will SAVE eating at home will ALSO be much more than $100. The value is there... But now that Greg has outwardly said he is a millionaire and 99.9% of his audience are NOT... I wish he'd cut the price to $50. Adds insult to injury that he often gives his cookbooks out to other influencers who clearly have the money to afford it many times over lol

"sugar substitutes are worse than actual sugar" - currently the biggest lie in the fitness industry. I know people can cite studies linking sugar substitutes and cancer, but the same people don't seem to have the ability to cite studies linking sugar and diabetes. and diabetes is nothing to f**k with (I've had relatives die from diabetes). so in the end, one is just as bad as the other. if you need sugar, it doesn't matter if its real or a substitute. my rule is everything is okay in moderation. but also with diets, you can't depend on super-restrictive diets being a sustainable thing that you can follow for the rest of your life. In general, the more restrictive it is, the less sustainable it is.

I think he more worried about responsibility and priorities as if you can’t even eat properly and stick to your diet plan then how are you gonna stick to your workout plan as that’s even harder then sitting down and eating really about self discipline

Greg I think you nailed it. The extremely harsh dieting that is suggested by Kyle allows him an out if even one can of Diet Coke or a little maple syrup is consumed during a diet to say well you didn’t follow the diet exactly so I can’t be responsible for you not coming in the best shape and not winning the show.

When I was their age in college, I could drink alcohol 3-4 nights a week to an extreme and eat our crappy dorm food which was 90% carb based and still maintain a six pack because of good genetics and a super high metabolism. Once I hit my early 30s, my metabolism slowed dramatically and to keep my six pack, I had to cut back on alcohol to twice a month and up my cardio by a factor of 2 or 3. They will learn this lesson soon enough.

To be honest the biggest concern is the addiction to artificial sweetening chemicals and food dyes. They are so bad for your overall health that i wouldnt recommend anyone has them, let alone people aspiring to compete as athletes, this is especially true for those using PED’s since that a big enough toll on health anyway. Its not going to affect the way they look on stage but it will have negative impacts. So the question is how you perceive the role of the coach. If it’s strictly him getting them stage ready this prep then he shouldn’t care, if its about giving his advice with their longevity in mind he should care. (I do understand the irony here considering their steroid use is going to have a greater negative impact, but thats not to say well X is bad so i might as well take everything bad)
