Particularly in a concert setting. Seeing it live, there's really no other interpretation to me. We're all facing at him. In Trench, none of us are alone. It's a little more ambiguous in the studio version, but I still take it as the Banditos, aka the fans.
@GarnetJ28 күн бұрын
Agreed. He’s facing people who understand the journey he’s been on and many have faced the same struggles. He’s with his people … the Clique / Banditos ||-// I think part of the journey in and through Trench was to show that you don’t have to fight or walk alone.

The part towards the end when Tyler talks about last year not being able to take the pace of change etc, he's talking about the year long hiatus they took. They blew up internationally with the Blurryface album and it got that he couldn't be himself because of fame. Trech was dropped at the end of the hiatus. It's mentioned in a few of the tracks. Like in Chlorine he says "when I leave don't save my seat, I'll be back when it's all complete, the moment is medical". He stepped away to look after his head. Also, these faces facing me, know what I mean" He's referring to his fans. Your reaction to this was great. Tyler's voice is so beautiful in this track and Joshs drums are pared back to an almost military sound. Amazing. Now......move your asses and get stuck into Blurryface, as you seem to be doing this backwards 😂

(leave the city = embrace change) I love how this song interconnects its message in lore and real life. The interrelationship of “leaving the city” (Dema) and having the uncertainty of whether things will get better when we decide to take that first step to heal ourselves.

The image this song puts in my mind is one of Clancy back in Dema after an album's worth of failed escapes. He's exhausted himself trying to flee the Bishops only to be drug back over and over. Now he's back where he was with no more fight left in him, but it's enough to have survived-to continue to survive. There will be other battles, and one day he may regain his strength and finally break free from the Bishops once and for all. Until then, knowing the Banditos-his people-are out there and share in his struggle against Dema acts as a source of hope and camaraderie.

i love this one because it has a double meaning, it works for both putting off the end of your life, and it works in the lore. obviously with the "in trench im not alone" but also, "why no one ever comes back with details from beyond" pointing to Tyler/Clancy being trapped in the city (dema) and how futile escape seems, since nobody ever comes back with details about trench. keep up the reactions yall! Faces are the fans. Tyler writes with the fans in mind and puts in our parts for the live show. Their live shows are not just them singing for or at us but all of us signing and creating together with Tyler as the conductor. This past tour was a perfect example. He left a lot of verses for the audience to sign alone. It's an incredible experience and you feel like you're part of a secret society. Amazing!

I can't believe you guys are almost halfway through their discography now! It's been such a joy to share the TOP journey with you! I definitely think this song works on multiple levels: In the lore, Clancy is trapped in Dema, having been kidnapped by the Bishops in the Levitate video, and he's trying to hold on to hope that he'll be free one day. In real Life, Tyler wrote the Trench album during a year-long radio silence from social media. He's said that it was rough on him not to be able to share what he was doing with us, the Clique. From that perspective, this song could also be about Tyler's anxiety about how the album will be recieved, and his hope that the Clique will still be there to hear it when it's finally finished...

All will be made clear when the Clancy world tour ends. It's gonna be beautiful. As for Vessel/Sleep Token, his character and themes could be interpreted as a different iteration of the Blurryface concept. Vessell and TOP are branches from the same vine. Both are real artists trapped inside a character they hide behind. TOP is getting ready to shake things up in the music industry. Hopefully, it will give Vessell the courage he needs. Money, fame and a few other things are powerful drugs.

“It’s a Glorious Gone” is referencing the Glorious Gone, the citizens of Dema who ended their lives and became vessels for the bishops to control. You see them crawling out of the graves in the Paladin Strait music video.
