Back in the early nineties, around 1994, I was living in Durham, NC. One day, my roommate came to pick me up from work in RTP. Lol and behold, who was in the back seat? Jermaine Hopkins. I was like, 🤯 you're kidding me right? Bro was in the car listening to a hip hop song I co-wrote with my roommate. We all vibed and Jermaine loved our song, "Too Hot". After an hour of chopping it up, we parted ways. He was a stand up dude. I totally forgot about that moment.

Newark was called the brick city because of the brick and cobblestone roads it had when the city was first established. Most have since been covered with asphalt, but a few remain between Elizabeth Ave. and Frelinghuysen Ave. in the southward. I'm not sure when this new story about the name came about, but it's primarily only on the internet. "Newark’s association with bricks predates the post-WWII building projects- the city used to have a large percentage of it’s streets paved with bricks, including the blocks around Penn Station and Lackawanna Station. It was actually very distinctive looking. "

Home is where the heart is. Newark used to be named Milford
@MARKEMTV16 күн бұрын
@@joshuaharrigan1289 "Puritans migrating from Connecticut founded Newark in 1666 on land purchased from Delaware Indians. The settlement, first named Pesayak Towne and later New Milford, was probably renamed for the home of the Reverend Abraham Pierson, who went there from Newark-on-Trent, England. Another version holds that the name was of biblical significance (New Ark). Newark became the seat of Essex county (1682) and was chartered as a township in 1693."

Downtown Trenton, for years, tried to cover the cobblestones up with blacktop but it would always come up. They finally ended up taking those cobblestones up in the 2000s

I remember watching "Lean on Me," "Juice," and other movies he stared in. He played some legendary roles. Jermaine Hopkins is extremely underrated. Then, I remember meeting him on the biker set. Shocked to meet him, but glad I did. It was a real experience. He is a real funny, cool, and down to earth guy. Glad to have met you brother.

I went to a family reunion when my car broke down on the interstate on my way to college. Three older ladies picked me up as they saw me walking on the shoulder. They were on their way to the reunion and they asked me if I wanted to come. I said okay.. I met grandpa and everything. Took a plate back and then the driver of the crew took me back to my school. It was wild.
