Yeah I totally agree with the lazy nursery rhyme trend. It's not clever and it's only used for shock value. For an example, Melanie Martinez has used ABC's in her song Alphabet Boy and it's very clever and thought out in comparison to ABCDE FU.

@Roxxie_Dawn Жыл бұрын
@@strwbymlk That's true. Melanie's whole Crybaby album is based off nursery rhymes and children's games. And there's so much to unpack lyrically and aesthetically. Even the composition is on theme. Unlike the Twinkle Twinkle little b and ABCDE FU, they are just there to be vulgar, just there to get a Tik Tok hit. I guess it makes sense as to why they went with it, considering Melanie's songs have been having a Tik Tok renaissance. It's the age old difference between artists being creative, and corporations trying to emulate the trend for a quick buck.

In 2023 people need to STOP praising influencers/artists who encourage teenage girls to be overly sexual. Parents are not the only ones to blame imo.
@ekesa07632 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but you can hardly criticize them because it’s always the response that “ you just don’t want girls to embrace their sexuality”, or some shit. It’s really stupid. I was one of those teenagers impacted by this idea that my femininity and my value as a person depended on my sexual activity and sexualization of my body. As a result, it has done nothing but negatively affect my life. But no one will be accountable for it because there is still the mentality that open expression of sexuality (and even nudity in some insane cases) is prime female empowerment. Like literally just not too long ago there were so many scandals about adult women on only fans, encouraging there, underage viewers to sign up to only fans when they would become legal and use affiliate links to do so. I don’t understand why some think that sex and biology education has to also encourage overt sexualisation of girls. It’s beyond me.

Honestly, I just wish people would stop commenting on whether or not a girl’s clothes are overly sexual because either way it places pressure on girls to conform to certain/different misogynist expectations and terms (slut/prude, sexually liberated/sexually repressed, etc). This way girls can choose to wear what they want without having the entire internet and their parents in their head as they do so and just dress for themselves. However, this is unrealistic of me as we’d need to change our entire culture 😅

I agree so much with the part on gruesome content. This year in my country there was a terrible accident where a young woman was hit by a bus and her body was massacred terribly in the process. There was a lot of people around who recorded the accident with their phones, took photos of her dead body and posted all over social media, there were people who even found her relatives and decided to bully them with those photos in their dms and it ended up with some of those relatives going to a therapy. It felt like the whole country has seen these photos and videos and it was considered "normal" while I was deliberately avoiding clicking at any links that led to those contents. A couple of months later my friends from a group chat made a reference to the girl's name and I expressed that I didn't know who they were talking about and they were very surprised that I didn't know and immediately pulled out the links to those gruesome videos of her death and started sending to me (even though I didn't ask for them, I only said "I don't know who you're talking about" not "can someone explain to me who it is"). At that moment I remembered who they were talking about and didn't click at any of those links but the fact that they felt it was alright to share them among friends and they had them saved just to be able to pull them out within seconds months after the accident made me feel like we belong to two different species of human.

stans really need to chill, and i say this as a stan. at the end of the day, critics are just doing their jobs, and i don't get why people are so bothered by what a single publication said about an album. there are hundreds of thousands of people giving that same album a 10/10, so why be bothered by another person saying it's a 7/10, especially when it's not a bad score like you pointed out?! i feel like people have to take a step back sometimes. fandom is supposed to be fun, an outlet, not a reason to attack people.

I blame Melanie Martinez for the nursery rhyme pop, but the music she’s inspired is so much worse than anything she’s actually dropped herself. It is sooo creepy and weird. Why do you have to make sexual references while your music video takes place in a child’s room and you’re singing twinkle twinkle little star, Leah Kate? Keep your weird kinks out of your music. It makes my skin crawl

How do you feel about Nicki Minaj’s freaky girl in terms of samples? I’m genuinely curious what’s your opinion on it
@fanrosefabrose9457 Жыл бұрын
It's good sampling its done right because everyone involved are talent, seasoned musicians that know how to interpolate music. Like Nicki's always been a creative person when it come to interpolating song lyrics/melodies/rythmns etc from other musicians and even genres. However, going into the discussion about sampling I think it's unfair to call it 'lazy', even for the examples given - i may not like them...at all - they are song that are written by producers and artists who just want to churn our a hit/single/whatever to get their names out there. Also their young, so obviously circumstances are this may be the worst music they released in their career as they are just starting out. I take for example alot of DnB + EDM producers who have watched the entire jungle grown and evolve over the years through the use of sampling hits and remixing them, in their inception it was incredible but nowadays taking a song and slapping a nice drum pattern over it isn't gonna cut it. TL;DR sample culture is good, Nicki is good. Young pop/celebrity artists will by default make shit music because they aren't seasoned and or haven't found their strides yet.

I do agree with having female singers as song titles and the nursery rhymes. But the samples though, are the worst. I turned on the radio after not doing it for a while and I heard back to back samples in songs, mostly Electronic. 1 used like a short melody, which I can remember rn, and the other stole the whole chorus from "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" by Cutting Crew. But both were very obvious, and that happened after I had recently discovered "I'm Good" by Guetta and Rexha. What's up with this, specially in Electronic songs? They're so poorly used, they're very obvious and they serve it as a completely different song. It's ok to use a little sample as some Rap songs do, or to striaight up do a cover; but using a wholeass melody or even the lyrics too is too much. The having female singers as song titles is for the most part Rap, so you can tell it's mostly for clout. And then the nursery rhymes are the most annoying. Like the twinkle twinkle song? And I thought abcdefu was awful. Goddamn!

I see an example on social media: pop stans rely so much on critics/media/chart/award show to validate their artists' existence, starving to be praised so hard. They always bring numbers to the table. While rock stans for example, just vibing the to music, debate the music quality according to their own taste and go to sleep.

Why should the bbl era end? I’m genuinely curious because I see a lot of plastic surgery shaming going on on the Internet and that seems to be fine but if someone makes fun of someone with a natural body then all hell breaks loose. I think people should be able to do what they want to do with their bodies and look how they want to look. I may be biased because I’ve had 2 BBLS but I just don’t see why it gets so much hate. Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, but are we really not trying to hold Taylor accountable for the time she took to Twitter to defend herself using feminism about a line in the tv show Ginny and Georgia yet remained silent when her fans unleashed racist threats of death on the actress (a woman of color)? This was two years ago and still no comment from her or her team. There was also her attempt to silence a blogger for saying she should denounce white supremacy in 2017? That was just not it. And then she tells her fans to “Let (Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun) know how you feel” in response to the Masters Controversy, only to say nothing when fans released their addresses online and sent death threats to him and his children? It’s giving “I’m a super powerful person who gets my way by siccing my rabid fans on all my foes” and I am beyond grossed out by it. Someone. Could. Have. Died. Tay, I have loved you for years and spent a lot of time, listens, and money supporting you. but at this point I’m not sure about you. This is not a cute look. To her other fans, all the love to you, but it’s a bit eerie to me that your allegiance to her outweighs your principles of right and wrong. She’s been heavily criticized for her silence, and in the ways she has responded to this criticism, I applaud her. In the situations where using her voice really counts, I have indeed never heard silence quite this loud. *As a commenter pointed out, she also dated a minor in her 20s. I am genuinely disturbed by the fact so few people seem intent on calling her on her bullish!t.
