I've been playing on a Olds 3(Not 3C) since I started playing trumpet(17 years). The cup is shallow. Tone sounds pinched. Looking for a more round open sound. But I love the comfort of the rim on the piece. And I can't find any specs on any olds mouthpieces to find something equivalent but with a less deep cup.

Great video. The problem actually is, that we often look for other mouthpieces to cure something that's related to the way we play. Still, great tip for choosing gear. Thumbs up :-)

Do you find that different trumpets work best with different mouthpieces? Like maybe a large bore would work better with a bigger mouthpiece that a medium?

Killer, Trent! Do you still have any of Clark's pieces and or play them? Great video. It's in line with what I have been doing. Do you balance your shedding between say a legit piece, a middle of the road piece and a lead piece? Do you shed more on what you are gigging on at that moment, and if it changes day to day do you just shed on the middle of the road piece? I have been experimenting shedding on bigger gear even when on more commercially oriented gigs, then just warming up on what I plan to gig on. I must say - overtones have improved, but security isn't as good. I basically never shed my "lead" piece any more, and that explains the security I would say. I spend most of my time on the middle of the road stuff.
