Trent I just want to say...thank you so much for all the advise and lessons you post! I am new to digital art...life long paper guy. I am exploring the idea of putting my name in the hat for professional concept artist. I came across your channel and man...you have really inspired me!!! I know I have a up hill battle to enter this realm potentially as a career, but I have loved drawing ever sense I can remember. That’s what it’s all about right. You have sparked a fire in me, and I can not wait to put digital pen to iPad. Thank you again bro! You are awesome!

You can actually merge multiple layers at once by placing your index finger and your thumb on two different layers and pushing them together. Everything that is between, including top and bottom ones, are going to be flattened into one layer 😊

One more fast tip. When I do my linework I will select the white background then inverse button and 1 flat color in a new layer. Now you have a flat shape. why this is Handy? Because u can go back into that color shape layer and just click select and now will be a perfect selection on ur character. 1.- add a new layer and u will be comfortable that u won't do anything out of ur character. Helps when is more than one character in the canvas. And for shading and values. I also isolate the shirt, eyes or elements in specific clothes in a separate layer so anytime, I can comeback and change colors or add details in single shapes faster.

1.-Hold on the check mark and isolate tht specific layer. 2.-swipe left on the layer and u can clear/duplicate or delete. 3.-make a shape square circle or oval and hold the pencil and it will make perfect shapes/ even better u can edit the shape. 4.- Make a half circle or curve and hole and it will make perfect parabolic lines for those dragon tails or rounded corners. 5.- you can adjust the pencil pressure for those hard drawing or sof drawing hands 6.- Swipe the layers to the right to select the layers you need and u can group them or merge them. ( Merge cannot be separated in single layers again). Trent love your work and look up to you has an artist. Thanks for what you do.

I enjoy Procreate so much I got a cover for the iPad Pro that lets it feel like paper. So every time I go to draw my hand and mind is fooled into thinking I am drawing on actual paper. This cover could also be the reason why the tip of my Apple Pencil got worn out quickly, or I could have pressed on it too hard(probably just pressing too hard).

Those covers really wear down the nibs, it wasn't you! They're great feeling but I always just stick with the glass, I hate how quickly the nibs die out with those covers.

There are different screen protectors you can get for the iPad. Personally, I got one with a rough, paperlike texture so it feels more like drawing on paper. And no, it does not affect the sensitivity.

Ugh it's apple though. I bet that pencil doesn't work with certain generations of ipads, and I bet that it has some charger inconsistencies or incompatibilities as well. Apple pulls the same shit with all their damn products so it's really hard to endorse anything from them.
@nickstair63554 жыл бұрын
Phillip despite how much I don’t like the way apple does things, I don’t think we should let our personal bias get in the way of seeing that is a great a tool. I have an iPad Pro and the pencil. It truly is astounding how accurate the Apple Pencil is.
@ryder54344 жыл бұрын
The gen 2 Apple Pencil will work with current (and future) I pad pro models but the non pro iPad will still work with the gen 1 Apple Pencil (for maybe the next 2 maybe 3 years). Apple is really slow when it comes to replacing iPad stuff (the iPad Pro 11In and 12.9 in took 3 years to come out) and rn they aren’t even full replacements. I personally bought an iPad Pro because I knew I wouldn’t need to buy another iPad for at least 4ish years.
@nigelbaboolal50724 жыл бұрын
I don't like apple as a company either, but nothing I've tried is as good as the new pro and pencil. The pencil does only work with this ipad, but I haven't had any trouble with either of them so far, and I got it on launch. I can't really compare it to any problems or inconsistancies with any other apple products though, because this is my only apple product.

I really want someone that isn't apple or adobe to create a device that JUST does this. No other software, just a procreate like program in a tablet, a digital sketchbook basically. Maybe have some social media upload functionality but other than that 100% for art. Because I want this but it isn't worth the cost of the iPad. And adobe fresco isn't worth the cost of a tablet + adobe cc subscription.
@nigelbaboolal50724 жыл бұрын
Wacom mobile studio pro and companion were basically what you want I guess. I think the new pro is like 3500 dollars though, and the companion has a lot of issues from what I hear. Unless your already paying for cc, there's no point in using fresco. The price just doesn't make sense for the minimal differences between fresco and procreate or at studio pro.
@johnny_the_artsy_fart4 жыл бұрын
@@nigelbaboolal5072 yeah I wanted the mobile studio pro but it's so crazy expensive. And it doesn't quite fit what I was describing, like I don't want to have to use macOS or Windows or Linux or anything I want it to be its own thing strictly dedicated to art, kinda like how an Amazon kindle is its own thing for just books. And yeah fresco isn't worth it. I could get it right now since I get cc free as a student but in a couple months that would go away and also I don't have anything that can run it since I only have a laptop
