Llantrisant - A Freemen's Tale

Llantrisant has a remarkable history stretching back more than 1,500 years.
This incredible story is told in the Llantrisant Guildhall Heritage & Visitors Centre, a restored 14th century Grade II Listed Building which re-opened following National Lottery Heritage Fund support in 2019.
To celebrate the history of the building, its Freemen and the town, this film was produced by Calan Films.
It plays in the Llantrisant Guildhall every day for its many visitors and can be bought as a DVD.

My Elder Sister Cheryl has moved to your town and put me onto this video. The boundary walk is incredibly unusual - or I’ve never heard of this being done where I live - where most folks wouldn’t have a clue or be at all bothered where our parish boundary is. Only the New Forest ‘ national park ‘ boundary is known due to Post-Carvings being placed at road crossings. 42 years ago I moved to llantrisant. It was marvelous. It changed my life. Spending a lot of time on Henry little farm ( the guy with his cows in the film). The year I came here was a beating of the bounds year. They used to have a 3 day festival with bands on the bullring and folk music in the pubs. Street market and street performers. It's not so big as it was which is a huge shame. But still well worth a visit to wall the bounds You will be made very welcome as you seen in the video. It's one of those places you won't want to leave. It's changed a lot. But most places have as the community gathering around the local pub has gone,a thing of the past. Not just llantrisant. That's destroying community everywhere. Atomize the ppl and the kids have to leave the area to afford to live.
