Trepang2 - Survival Mode DLC Gameplay - No Abilities; Just Ammo Modified Full Run

I remember seeing some lines back in Doom (2016) that made me laugh during the loading screen of the level, Foundry: "Samuel Hayden, a survivor and Head of the Mars facility has offered you his help if you need it. You don't. You just need ammo and a way to stop the meltdown before it tears the base apart."
Pretty much what this run boils down to, based on the title for this run:
- Infinite Ammo (No Reloading)
- Infinite Throwables
- Infinite Stamina
- No Focus
- No Cloak
I put on the Subject 83 animated weapon skin after getting it from Site 83 Rage Mode last weekend, as well as Accents - Dark Green to make Subject 106 dress up sorta like Doomguy. You get the reference above, right?
At the start, you'll see why having no reload for Infinite Ammo is worth the reward on Jorvik Castle Extreme compared to Jorvik Castle Hard where you "just" get Infinite Ammo.
You get Infinite Ammo (No Reloading) by completing Jorvik Castle on Extreme Difficulty and Infinite Grenades from Site 14 Rage Mode. Super worth getting after I played those last weekend. Gotta say: super fun to fire the Heavy Weapons without the delay from reloading. Reminds me of the good ol' days of Goldeneye 64 when you unlock this game's Cheats!
Although, I think Akimbo Pistols with Full Auto and Compensator shreds Heavy Soldiers the best, and this was without Focus enabled.
I think the Infinite Throwables is convenient for utility reasons, such as getting Fire Kills if you want to use Fire Bombs. Or those other new Grenades if you want to have fun with the new toys. Personally, infinite Vortex Grenades is amazing.
If you're wondering why I turned off Focus and Cloak for this run, no specific reason. Just thought I give the Horizon forces "a chance" before they taste Big Ammo.
I tried to use all three Heavy Weapons as much as possible depending on how much money I have per level, which level I got, and who I faced. If you're wondering what are the Heavy Weapons in question:
- Grenade Launcher
- Bolt Launcher (Explosive Mode)
- Minigun
I didn't bother using the Penetrator Mode for the Bolt Launcher, because without Focus nor Cloak, I was an open target for everyone. Bolt Launcher without reloading felt like using an overpowered Tactical Rifle, but more awesome and hilarious. I think it's a practical version of a Rocket Launcher for 106's use, like a hand-held version of the MOD-3 Multi-Rocket Launcher from FEAR 1.
The Minigun was good on lower Tier enemies, but having the Smart Scope helped with staying behind cover while firing. I think using Akimbo Full Auto Pistols is better when fighting multiple Heavy Soldiers like against HECU, because they're cheaper to buy from the Supply Box. $1000 for the Pistols vs. the $8000 for the Minigun, if you need Minigun Kills for one of your level Objectives.
I saved the Grenade Launcher for the end, because I wanted a big map like Grounded so I don't get damaged by the splash damage. The last Wave I got to use Akimbo Grenade Launchers, since getting a second one from the Supply Box costed $6000, and I wanted to clear all of the Objectives first before I initiated Mayhem Mode.
I was thinking this run was going to go by really fast, since Infinite Ammo without reloading sounds like one of the best things ever, right? Well, it turns out when you face tougher enemies in the later Survival Mode levels, the game tosses you "those Objectives" before you can resume Mayhem.
Having No Focus here while enabling fun Cheat Codes made things more doable for the Melee Objectives. I can't imagine dealing with Melee Kills, Throwing Knife Kills, and Tomahawk Kills on later levels without Focus on. Pretty difficult when you're constantly underfire.
In summary, having Infinite Ammo without reloading and Infinite Throwables doesn't mean you're an absolute God. It just means you only need to worry about starving for food if you know what I mean.
