They should have asked him more questions about South African politics and system. It's not the utopia that Trevor is not going into but implying. It's basically a media controlled dictatorship now as well.

For some reason I felt like he was really good in bed…just his energy. I felt like he’d really yell at you and tell you what to do ….like in a hot way u know what I’m saying? Ok cool I’m gonna rewind and actually listen to the pod now lmao. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. 😂

I like Trevor Noah, but he appeared to be somewhat cautious - unfriendly, a bit guarded, maybe a little annoyed. The two stories he shared about Jason Bateman may reveal why - both stories described encounters where Jason was not very kind. He does not like you. It showed in this episode!
@sbumzi63136 ай бұрын
Yeah I thought I was the only one reading into this, but there's something there. It might be Jason's tone when addressing Trevor but it felt unintentionally condescending. Will seemed to be the lubricant in defusing this tension with his wry humor & I don't think Trevor came off unfriendly, I think he was being affable & cautious!

There were 2 known comics in SA at the time mentioned and it still isn't a huge scene, just the way things work there. It didn't have much to do about democracy at all. I grew up during that time too. It also certainly was democracy until Mandela left the position as president, afterward it is reversed racism so whether I like Trevor or not it doesn't make much of a difference. Facts are facts. I enjoy Trevor but I don't like misrepresentation of South Africa.
@roundtwo33217 ай бұрын
There is no such thing as " reversed racism ", and why did the fascists hang around after their fascism was outlawed?
@es23526 ай бұрын
@@roundtwo3321 You are correct, what I meant was that the perception of the world was and still is that white people were acting racist towards black people and what developed is the majority of black people are acting racist against white people. I grew up in the sweet spot where I didn't experience much racism at all, my grand parent's generation certainly had tendencies and we all rolled our eyes at them.
@es23526 ай бұрын
@@roundtwo3321 as for your comment on fascism, I don't really know what you are talking about. It was a tribal country, the British established apartheid when they colonised, over time people adapted, things happened, people started to realise that everyone is equal. Democracy happened and now there is dictatorship and corruption under the guise of democracy. As for hanging around, SA is a different place, people didn't use to travel abroad much or had the money to do that. Now it is hard to leave the country or get anything you own out of there because of prices, unemployment etc etc and .... corruption. It is a complete different setup and state of mind and systems to other places. Same I believe to be true in every country.
@roundtwo33216 ай бұрын
@@es2352 You have seriously re-written history. That's something the losers of the war do to hide their culpability, cover their tracks. I like how you glossed over the fascist regime of apartheid, as if it were a turn of a page. No, that fascist system was long, brutal, and fatal. No, "people" didn't start to realize that everyone was equal. The protests made the world reject the fascist system in South Africa, and stop sending money to it. Getting rid of fascist apartheid is not corruption. Fascist apartheid is the corruption. No one said the fascists had the right to take anything from South Africa. You came with nothing. You leave with nothing. Just leave. South Africa is not your country.
@es23526 ай бұрын
@@roundtwo3321 I don't care about loosing or winning or about you really. I just state facts. If you weren't there you have no idea what happened really so let's just call it like it is. Being there and sitting at home thinking you know anything isn't the same. The protests didn't do squat, do you think protests make people think? No, it makes people angry. Time and understanding is the only way things change ever. If you think SA stopped getting money you are seriously mistaken. China and middle eastern counties couldn't wait to get their hands on any part of SA. Calling people names and labelling them without truly understanding the full scope of it all isn't a game I play.
