Great upload Vice. I appreciate this type of content. People need to be more aware of the dangers of social media and the companies that use your information, photos, location, etc.

It's incredible how much Paglen has aged in a short period of time. A video of him in 2008 (this was uploaded 2017) shows him with a full head of hair, higher pitched voice, etc. Clearly, the soul sucking has begun on him.

Not AI.

This is very much AI. Artificial Intelligence is everywhere, even microwaves. The thing that people fear that they incorrectly call "AI" is actually called "GI" - General Intelligence; when a computer brain can do what a human brain does

Computer doesn't see or perceive or know anything. We're talking about machine - a mechanism. No matter how sophisticated it is. And It doesn't even need a display to work properly.

Javla Varyag well but these images are the only way for us to get an inside into what the machines work with, because we cannot interpret binary data

roggen dorf but you don't get any insight into how a computer works by looking at images anymore than you get it by browsing youtube. All you know is you have a machine that was made to function this way. Just like movement or sound sensitive alarm was made to go off whenether there's sound or movement.

Javla Varyag well and I suppose you don't learn anything about gravity or fusion by watching a sunset but it is still awe inspiring and may lead to further interest and inquiry. If I am not mistaken this guy is called an artist and not a scientist

roggen dorf you don't. But then again the title of the video is not - 'artist showing us how his image-recognition app works'. It's 'artist showing us how computers see the world'. They're toying with the notion of artificial intelligence as if computer is some sort of sentient being. It's a popular theme in sci-fi movies but it's not the reality. Other than this modern state of technology sure is awe inspiring no doubt about it.
