I've been writing for a little bit now and I'm more and more convinced that the coffee is the real secret. ❤ Thanks for sharing. Great inspiration

Thank you for exposing this very private and vulnerable exercise to us all. My writing is plagued by self-doubt and criticism, and it is freeing to see a master work from a place of joy and love.

This is such a gift for humanity. That Trey is doing these lessons for free is really incredible. Thanks for putting these up on KZbin. That is also a gift for all of us that don’t use instagram. I’ve been waiting for someone to put these up. 🙏

@22:49 Trey reaches a moment of absolute clarity and wisdom saying "If there's one thing I want you to learn...there's time to fix this stuff and it isn't now" and at that moment the fire sparks up like it never had before, thus affirming the grace and spirit in the moment.

All things said, Trey, we have a very similar process of music creation. I’m psyched for the last two lessons and, again, thank you sooo much. I’ve learned some things. Thinking we’re brothers from another mother man. Love you bro. Onwards and upwards💚💚🎶💫🦅

This is great. I am doing exactly the same thing - without any kind of “commercial success” so far - for years and years and was always doubting myself. I would ask myself if I was insane for starting and abandoning a new composition or song every day, and indeed always ending on unplanned stuff, too, piling up endless material and releasing only very little of it, even though I care deeply for my songs. But this makes me very confident that it is indeed the right way.

Trey, your music fuels my life. Please never stop. My life would be less full without your beautiful music. I really can’t put the impact you have had on my life into words. Thank you. ✌️

it makes me feel better about my own clumsiness that even trey bonks his $20,000 acoustic guitar and just says 'oops'

This is the absolute best demonstration of creative free writing and thinking musically I have ever seen. I love when Trey says let your ear lead you...I don't even know where this is...Thank you for these videos. It's wonderful to see an artist share human vulnerability in such a generous, inspiring way. I can't say enough great things about this video series and the insight into my favorite modern composer and guitar player. Again, thank you.

there's a sweetness to the man that comes out at times through the music we all love. I think of songs like Mountains in the Mist; it has some of that sweetness. The jams that go on a little to long and find a space of mystery that make the band so great exhibit this. Thank you for sharing this video. :)

Thank you for posting here. For some reason I only see half of them on FB. Trey mentioned 'Songwriting Without Boundaries' and 'Writing Better Lyrics' both by Pat Pattison in another interview.

Trey REALLY needs to write "Everyone's Going To Laugh"- huge potential in that little piece near the end.

I was thinking the same thing! That part made me lol. Just that little character he did with that guitar riff. That'd be so awesome to turn into a song.

Kind of a lie, Trey, talking about birthing a song into existence when you're so stingy with copywrite laws even when pertaining to educators like Michael Palmisano.

Wasn't he taking personal donations while reacting to Phish on his live stream? I can see why the band would have problems with that.
