The dimensions have biomes and each biome has a different generation. Some sucked while some were good and where you end up depends on where you are in the world when creating a portal with your name also if you see a end gateway and you throw a ender pearl in it then it will teleport you somewhere far in the same dimension. I learned this using the lodestone

There is now a mod on Modrinth for 1.20.1 called Infinite Dimensions - and replicates exactly this behavior for portals. So no need to get this special version of Minecraft anymore. I am going to add this mod and extend my portal room with portals of really cool dimensions I find. PS: Technically it's not infinite, the maximum number is the 32-bit integer limit - which comes out at approx. 2.167 billion possible dimensions to explore. Should be enough.

The Library portal and dimension was interesting, because if you dont know- its a reference to the infinite Library of Babel. To sum it up, its an infinite space, comprised of infinite books that are all jumbled up- but people go there to find the perfect book. They usually go insane doing so though

if you go to the "missing" dimension, there's a shrine near 0 , 0 with 3 beacons, tons of gold, netherite blocks, diamond blocks, and even some custom netherite stairs named "swaggiest stairs ever"

Imo the best way to do this challenge is on a layer of bedrock with spawned in obsidian and books. That way the only items you can get are from other dimensions
