Tri Battle Royale Race Movie 2021 | Jan Frodeno vs. Lionel Sanders | New World Record
A Day in Triathlon History. Jan Frodeno raced in Allgäu head to head with Lionel Sanders.
After a strong swim he came after around 45 min and a 5 min gap out of the water and presented a stronger bike ride. Sub 4 hours. 03:55:47h ; what a ride. On the run got a strong first half ; after a crash he struggeled a bit and had to pay for the strong bike ride. But strong as ever he beat his own record in more than 7 min ; 07:27:53h. Also Lionel beat his record in more than 1 min.

This guy is a beast. He broke the record eventhough theres alot of minor error, helmet fall off (after swimming), almost took a wrong intersection (bike), fell due to wet surface (running). Damn he could absolute smash this record in the near future.

Schwimmzeit schnell aber nicht seine schnellste. Radsplit bei dem Wetter unglaublich. Laufen hingefallen, insgesamt gut aber auch hier kann Jan mehr und keine guten Wechsel. Ergebnis: Bestzeit. Was ist das nur für ein Typ? The GOAT ist absolut berechtigt!! Und was für eine Leistung von Lionel. Die letzte Runde hat er nur gebissen und es einfach durchgezogen, das ist TRIATHLON! Danke für das organisieren und die dolle Übertragung!

I guess the 2016 time was probably more worth though. Harder course than this, less aero on the bike and no carbon shoes. I have no idea how hard the weather was for Jan and Lionel. Not good for sure, but did it slow them down significantly? It's hard to compare all this... What I think is more intesting is with his almost 40 Jan is still as strong and no one could have predicted that 5 years ago.

It’s a Camelbak Delaney Belt, he made adjustments sewing Velcro onto instead of the clips.

Jan had to close the time cap from his medium first transition on the first bike kilometers and put the shoes on after a few minutes on the bike.

Lionel should have drafted Jan during the swim. It would then have been a closer contest.

he had if he could! But though meanwhile Lionel can swim fast - there is no chance to draft a man swimming ~1:11/100m. Nonetheless he gave a great performance - after all he was below the old WR time until 2/3 of the marathon, and he didn't blow up! He fought his way running to the finish. Really great race from him too!!!
