I sold my 2016 Africa Twin DCT to buy a 2010 GSA. Honda was a bit better off road, but vague on the road. BMW much more satisfying overall package. The most important thing for me is a bike’s personality: Honda was bland, while the GS gives me a silly grin every time I ride it; even makes me smile just looking at it in the garage. Enough said.

@@tri333ple In Q to Malaysia often 1 bar below red zone, or in sluggish traffic in Singapore. I could hear the valves clickering loud then, and the exhaust sound changed to kind of hoarse. Besides of all the heat climbing up. Often I only moved forwards in between the cars to get air to the engine. That was also horrible when I rode her in Australia. Ok, we had 40 - 43 C. The engine temperature gauge was sometimes in the red zone, and I had to drive slower to allow her cooling down. And then the heat that climbed up the leg ... Heat control is just not as good as with water cooled engines. Piston tolerances must be higher, therefore the engine drinks oil. Not contemporary, IMO. Scraped a perfectly well machine after 14 years, was fred up. Overall I find the GS overrated and expensive to maintain.

@@tri333ple The difference in power lost in input lag for my taste. The 2012 model felt like it had more motor break and more power when you need it. 2019 model needs an aggressive mode. With 2012 I had to carry a bottle of engine oil to long trips. They solved that issue. Better stronger lights. I liked 2012 dashboard but TFT is also ok. I wish there was a way to have separate turn signals at 2019 model. Windscreen is a little bit better but that's not important, there is a lot of aftermarket there. I would say that's all. Traction control, have it, appreciate it - did not kick in it yet l guess. I could live without it. So all in all the same bike for me with plushy gas input. If you're happy don't upgrade. That bike lives and dies with you.

@@tri333ple ok cool thanks. I chose a Tiger 800 to replace mine. But I’m not sure I did the right thing. The Triumph is great. Honestly can’t fault it but I just like the old GS. Triumph is easier for me to manage Offroad. Has all the tech stuff too but the BMW had a little more room to move around. Vario panniers we’re brilliant. The Tiger is slightly better on fuel. Around 4.2 litre per 100 on tour. With my older eyes I prefer the analogue orange glow of the GS dash. I find the Tiger dash a little too bright and busy. (2016 model) For a 400cc smaller motor the Tiger is no slouch. The GS just does it a little lazier.

@@tri333ple Well where to start; The shocks are too soft for on road, for corners. It's more offroad biased than 1200GS. You don't go to that technical offroad with a heavy bike so you don't need such soft shocks. Head dive on the corners after 10 degree lean. Really annoying on the long road, doesn't compare to a BMW when taking corners at all. I had the first version with 1k cc engine - hp might not be enough for some, torque was good. Why do you buy a liter adv bike, to go to long road and maybe with your pillion. BMW was quite more relaxed and comfortable for my pillion. Weight distribution and center of gravity was surprisingly good. Tube tires were great to have, easy to fix. Chain was easy to maintain. Still for my taste, too heavy for offroad. Don't be fooled by those ads and videos, those pro guys can jump with any bike offroad. I prefer an old BMW for adv + a lightweight KTM / Honda for enduro for almost the same price in total.

@tri333ple3 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, price wise for 2nd hand market we cannot really advise. It ranges depending on the condition of the bike, accessories, remaining coe etc. But the ABS blinking light it is normal and will disappear once the bike moves past a certain speed.
