Are you going to stamp a pattern into your grips? That would look great, I think. Good project for a rainy day maybe.

I'm building/making my first chopper from scratch. I've already made a leather seat, and I want to use the same leather for the grips. Is contact cement all you use to secure the end of the wraps?

Contact cement would work well, but for extra security, you can either use a thin metal wire to tie the grip down, or use a thick thread to tie the end. I used tiger thread at the ends of my grips here.

You should machine the mirror clamp so it's 7/8". If you don't know a machinist, or have a machine shop nearby, you can do it yourself with a drill press and a drum sander.

I would but I don’t think there’s enough material in the clamp to still be secure enough. Thanks for the advice tho! Will try it if I find something thicker
