Very well done... also what about the Ac diac. What diac is used.. or was that for reference?

The Ac diac used is MOC3021, sure I will link the code in the description

@@smoothengineering42 so the second piece in video is the 3021 diac and the 3rd piece is 4n25 octocoupler? Thanks for posting code.

@@smoothengineering42 I'm trying to control a small 300w 110volt heater for a small hot plate for soldering. But that takes 110v, and in your circuit your using a transformer to reduce mains volt to 18v ac. How would I go about hooking in the 110v heater...

@@jeremyboven you can use current limiting resistors at the input to the optocoupler to limit the forward current between (10 -50 )mA and forward voltage to less than 1.5v. The current limiting resistors should be on both N and L before connecting to the bridge ratifier (use resistors values between 4.7 to 10k, since you are using 110V, 1 watt resistor or higher). Between the optocoupler and bridge rectifier use resistor value of 360 ohm or less instead of 1k as in the video, to keep the forward current (10 -50 )mA . The values (10 -50 )mA and 1.5v or less is from the datasheet of 4N25

surely recified ac should be 100Hz?
@smoothengineering422 жыл бұрын
NO, it can't be 100Hz, both the period and frequency remains 20ms and 50Hz respectively. What only changes is the negative part of the wave gets shifted to the positive side .
