That's weird, I heard he sent a good portion of the green gang into the military to fight the japanese but didn't fight himself and was shunned by the people.

Great vid. Never understood the connection to Guan Yu. Especially the police worship as well as Triads as well as every Chinese restaurant in the world. Would make a good vid though.
@WooKong
@WooKong 6 жыл бұрын
I've had the topic of Guan Yu on the list for a while now, will hopefully get to it in the next few months. It's mostly because he was extremely loyal to his sworn brothers in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, but I'll go deeper in the future :)
@KrayzieBuddha

WooKong Sworn brothers in the book but not in real life I’ve been told (and has a big ego I might add) lol. He’s also a deity, a god of war (and perhaps a bodyguard for Guan Ying in Buddhism). Not just police and triads worship him but also the common folks like local businesses. He suppose to ward off evil spirits and entities.

I can never really tell the difference between southern and northern Chinese (aside from accent), I know he was a pretty tall guy so I just assumed he had northern heritage. Might be wrong though :)

Some difference can be easily told, but Du Yuesheng is hard to tell where he comes from by his face. Many people in North China also look in this way. But one thing is sure, if you find a male or female who has high cheekbones, dark skin, a little yellow hair and a little raucous voice, he or she must come from Guangxi province. I have tried many times, and this is awalys correct.

Doesn’t sound like it. Sounds like most of “his” empire was built by his mentor that had to sweep the street.
@swagpeach9850
@swagpeach9850 3 жыл бұрын
@@stoneandstar8352 Right and most of his mentors empire was built by Zhang Renkui, who was arguably the true godfather of Shanghai at the time. What's your point? If you always go back in time then there is always someone else who came before. Also Huang Jinrong a willing to give the majority of control over to Du Yuesheng because there is no denying Du's talent and smarts.
