Paul the Apostle mentions James as leader of the Church in Jerusalem several times and complains about James sending out letters to all the newly-founded churches telling them to reject the teachings of those who do not bear the letter of James. One Epistle of James (not actually written by James) can be found in the canon. The non-canonical Protoevangelium Jacobii (Proto-gospel of James) is still suggested reading for Catholics. This book is actually where Christians got the idea that Joseph was already an old guy when Jesus was born, as well as the only written basis for the Catholic doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. Christians don't usually know much about James because they don't really read the Bible. If they did they'd know he's there. James isn't that important to Christianity today because all the surviving Christian sects are descendants of Paul's gentile church instead of James' Jewish church. Early Christians actually didn't dispute that Jesus had brothers and happily wrote acts, epistles, and gospels of them. The somewhat famous Gospel of Thomas was written based on the idea that Didymus Judas Thomas had special authority because he was the twin brother of Jesus (both Didymus and Thomas mean twin, and Judas is the name of one of Jesus' brothers). There was also the Infancy Gospel of Thomas which was supposedly the same Judas Thomas chronicling his childhood with his superpowered twin. There was the Acts of Thomas where Judas was compelled by his divine brother to go spread Christianity to India, and so on and so forth. The current church doesn't like talking about these brothers today because their existence kinda makes the current theology questionable.

I'm a Taiwanese, and I really appreciate the clarity and completeness of the video. We were taught about the Tiandihui and Ling Shuangwen's revolt in high school, with Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in later chapters in our history textbook. What an outstanding channel. Superb narration. It's interesting to see how the Boxer Rebellion and White Lotus Society have been covered in classic HK films. I like to think Pai Mei was their leader IRL 🤣 The so called "burning" of the Shaolin Temple has long been disputed by historians, the exploits of some of the escapees were captured in the Shaw Brothers titles Heroes Two (1974) and Executioners From Shaolin (1977) amongst countless other films. The hand gestures you referenced can be witnessed in many films, John Woo's Hand Of Death (1976) immediately springs to mind. Regardless of the historical inaccuracy of the aforementioned movies they are all highly entertaining and well worth a watch.

In it, they help a girl from Beijing find a Russian girl who helped the Triads but at the same time they ultimately stopped the corruption in Hong Kong after defeating some meta humans.

Technically, Taiwan is not an independent state, it's a rival government that happens to hold the island of Taiwan. The ROC constitution still claims all of mainland China and Mongolia, they haven't bothered to re-write it.

But idk why they made it so all officials are templars, like, it's so stereotypical, do some actual research ubisoft, the political climate of ming was more diverse than this (face palm). But I guess they did a good job as a western company, western people tend to be very condescending when it comes to Chinese history, something most of them know absolutely nothing about.

The triad attack referenced in your video are sort of not the same triad/secret society you are teaching in your main subject. This is mostly the village locals who are attacking the non locals who were at their turf. Like people from a local town being annoyed by city folks visiting their area. However these new territories hk village gangs are always referenced as triads because they operate like a triad but it's more about village traditions rather than the triad traditions you are referencing in the main video. Love your video though.

What people don't understand about the situation was that the Protesters were entering Triad controlled territory. The Triads being the underground group they are, were probably weary of the groups attracting Police to the area. Of course, many police were probably in the pockets of the Triads and simply ignored their underground work. But a massive protest happening in the area would force Police hands. Therefore the Triads did their best thing, inciting fear and terror like a gang. Beating protesters who destroy infrastructure probably funded by the Triads. The protesters were also provoking them constantly. Smart people would know what happens when you poke a bear with a stick too much. I'm not saying this is right. But it happens to places all over the world where organized crime is present. The crime groups were simply just protecting their assets from eager rebellious youths. Hopefully one day, these groups will disappear but it's certainly not in this lifetime.

The art used in this video is quite inaccurate. The clothing on most characters depicted weren't actually used in ancient China and looked more Middle Eastern or European than Chinese. Mandarin squares weren't ubiquitously used on all formal clothing in society. There were mainly used by.. Officials like the Mandarins. The conical hat was not as common in ancient China as what western society usually think. They were used mainly by farmers. Not everybody wore them as standard headgear. The turbans also seem more Middle Eastern than the common Chinese turban styles. I can understand that the artist is probably from a western background. But some deeper research would be good for the artwork. Also, the subtle hint at the beginning of the video, implying that the white shirted group in HK were hired by the Chinese government needs to be based on more evidence. Inclusion of such comments politicize an otherwise neutral and educational video.

To be fair the Green Gang did some organize resistance groups against the Imperial Japanese. Du Yuesheng and Chiang Kai-shek was still relatively close during this time. The term ‘triad’ is a very expansive umbrella term for Chinese gangs. The ones that helped the Japanese invasion may not necessarily be affiliated to those that are resisting. The secret societies mentioned in the video were from different regional bandits, the Yellow Turbans originated from Shandong, Red Turbans originated from north China but later power being seized by the southern Red Turbans particularly the Fengyang Mafias of Anhui(Zhu Yuanzhang and his associates), the core of Taipings were not even ethnic Chinese precisely speaking they were mostly Guangxi people of Hakka and ethnic Zhuang origins, many were half-breds.
