@@jehuirasales3588 OK, Ultraman is wrong about the part of the 4 canon gospels deleting James because he's there in Both Mark 6 and Matthew 13 together with the other three brothers Joses, Judas, and Simon. Paul the Apostle mentions James as leader of the Church in Jerusalem several times and complains about James sending out letters to all the newly-founded churches telling them to reject the teachings of those who do not bear the letter of James. One Epistle of James (not actually written by James) can be found in the canon. The non-canonical Protoevangelium Jacobii (Proto-gospel of James) is still suggested reading for Catholics. This book is actually where Christians got the idea that Joseph was already an old guy when Jesus was born, as well as the only written basis for the Catholic doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. Christians don't usually know much about James because they don't really read the Bible. If they did they'd know he's there. James isn't that important to Christianity today because all the surviving Christian sects are descendants of Paul's gentile church instead of James' Jewish church. Early Christians actually didn't dispute that Jesus had brothers and happily wrote acts, epistles, and gospels of them. The somewhat famous Gospel of Thomas was written based on the idea that Didymus Judas Thomas had special authority because he was the twin brother of Jesus (both Didymus and Thomas mean twin, and Judas is the name of one of Jesus' brothers). There was also the Infancy Gospel of Thomas which was supposedly the same Judas Thomas chronicling his childhood with his superpowered twin. There was the Acts of Thomas where Judas was compelled by his divine brother to go spread Christianity to India, and so on and so forth. The current church doesn't like talking about these brothers today because their existence kinda makes the current theology questionable.

Hong Xiuquan was said to be a very smart guy, but at 22, after failing the imperial service exam four times (it was a 1:100 competition), he had a nervous breakdown (I feel you man) and started having visions where he had a heavenly family. His heavenly father lamented people worshed demons instead of him and sent Hong with a fiery sword to fight the demons, along with his heavenly elder brother. Shortly after, a cousin gave him some Christian pamphlets and he used them to make sense of his dreams. The heavenly king, Shangdi, was god and Jesus, his son, who was sent by god to earth with the power to fight demons, must be that heavenly brother. Oh, remember the sword in the dream? That is the most awesome part: He and his cousin ordered the forging of two badass swords that he called "the demon-slayer swords" 斬妖劍 And who were the demons, if not those who denied his dream of being a public servant? The Qing hated him so much for his revolt that his body was exhumed to be beheaded and later exhumed again, to be sure he was dead, and cremated. Maybe they were afraid he would resurrect like his heavenly brother.

Interesting because I made a story a while back whereas the Triad was a revived group that operated in Hong Kong. In it, they help a girl from Beijing find a Russian girl who helped the Triads but at the same time they ultimately stopped the corruption in Hong Kong after defeating some meta humans.

@Chong Chong : He became a "Sir", because he was working under British ruling in HK, but his nationality was actually Dutch. The British monarchy only ever award titles or labels, if the individual has helped the country in some ways.... This is why he ended up holding a position in the Dutch Consulate as well. Of course, the Dutch came and made trade with China first, and the British were kind of a little bit out there, without much cooperation or help. Whereas the Dutch had a lot of help, which became and turned things around to become what it is today... There was a famous video somewhere about a Chinese person who studied abroad, and ended up bridging the gaps.... Do not assume that this was all the results of the previous dynastic individuals inside the palaces... The Dutch came way way way before the British did.

Technically, Taiwan is not an independent state, it's a rival government that happens to hold the island of Taiwan. The ROC constitution still claims all of mainland China and Mongolia, they haven't bothered to re-write it.
I just realised this could be the plot for an assassin creed game with the assassin coming from the society and fighting against the corrupt ming officials and agents whom are all templars. This could all take place during the opium war as well and get the british involved and become a three way conflict
@kushastea39614 жыл бұрын
There was a game with shaoyun I think, and her grandmaster was yangming? But idk why they made it so all officials are templars, like, it's so stereotypical, do some actual research ubisoft, the political climate of ming was more diverse than this (face palm). But I guess they did a good job as a western company, western people tend to be very condescending when it comes to Chinese history, something most of them know absolutely nothing about.

Eric Kim Your last name is Kim. You are Korean, yes? China is most definitely the Middle Kingdom to you and your lot then. Korea (Goryeo) throughout its entire history was a tributary state to China. And the reason why Americans don’t get Chinese history right is because they are boorish and narrow minded - Americans are terrible at history because they have no neighbors which pose a threat to them. Compare this to Europeans who have to learn about their neighbors and world history.

Bravo good sir. I really wouldn't expect an American to know that Bulgaria exists, let alone its location. Regarding the topic of poor education, that has been an issue that's popping up in more and more of the western countries where it seems focus shifts away from science, history and literature to...absolutely useless topics and subjects frankly.

my uncle retired from the anti-triad branch of the Hong Kong Police in 2000, he mentioned that Hongmen is now a broad and generic term rather than the name for a particular organisation, covering any loose band than claim that heritage but they don't have any direct connection to the previous generation of the so-called ancestors of the organisation, instead their identities are banded by the same home province or home town, more like a self-help organisation but resorted to illegal measures sometimes

The triad attack referenced in your video are sort of not the same triad/secret society you are teaching in your main subject. This is mostly the village locals who are attacking the non locals who were at their turf. Like people from a local town being annoyed by city folks visiting their area. However these new territories hk village gangs are always referenced as triads because they operate like a triad but it's more about village traditions rather than the triad traditions you are referencing in the main video. Love your video though.

They were Hakkas, Hakkas formed many gangs, and were involved with the Triads, but yeah they don’t like the protestors and often take the law into their own hands.
@doleofdolonia88594 жыл бұрын
What people don't understand about the situation was that the Protesters were entering Triad controlled territory. The Triads being the underground group they are, were probably weary of the groups attracting Police to the area. Of course, many police were probably in the pockets of the Triads and simply ignored their underground work. But a massive protest happening in the area would force Police hands. Therefore the Triads did their best thing, inciting fear and terror like a gang. Beating protesters who destroy infrastructure probably funded by the Triads. The protesters were also provoking them constantly. Smart people would know what happens when you poke a bear with a stick too much. I'm not saying this is right. But it happens to places all over the world where organized crime is present. The crime groups were simply just protecting their assets from eager rebellious youths. Hopefully one day, these groups will disappear but it's certainly not in this lifetime.

Chinese triads, Russian mafias, and Vietnamese syndicates are probably the most powerful crime organizations in the world because they have the full backing of the respective government. Chinese triads are the most expansive and profitable, Russian mafias are the most militarized and dangerous, Vietnamese syndicates are the most cunning and shadowy. Both three of them work very well with each other, and their governments are in full alliance with each other.

The art used in this video is quite inaccurate. The clothing on most characters depicted weren't actually used in ancient China and looked more Middle Eastern or European than Chinese. Mandarin squares weren't ubiquitously used on all formal clothing in society. There were mainly used by.. Officials like the Mandarins. The conical hat was not as common in ancient China as what western society usually think. They were used mainly by farmers. Not everybody wore them as standard headgear. The turbans also seem more Middle Eastern than the common Chinese turban styles. I can understand that the artist is probably from a western background. But some deeper research would be good for the artwork. Also, the subtle hint at the beginning of the video, implying that the white shirted group in HK were hired by the Chinese government needs to be based on more evidence. Inclusion of such comments politicize an otherwise neutral and educational video.

To be fair the Green Gang did some organize resistance groups against the Imperial Japanese. Du Yuesheng and Chiang Kai-shek was still relatively close during this time. The term ‘triad’ is a very expansive umbrella term for Chinese gangs. The ones that helped the Japanese invasion may not necessarily be affiliated to those that are resisting. It’s a real mess when it comes to triads
@angusyang59174 жыл бұрын
Triads in the modern era are self-serving, they serve whoever gives them the best benefits. During World War II, they played both sides to come out on top, and we know what they're doing now in modern times.

@@rayray6490 Just another example of westerners trying to simplify something they don't fully understand It's much easier for them to lump every single Chinese secret society into one monolithic entity and give them a generic "Triad" label Kind of like how they label everything east of Europe as "Asia", even though ancients Greeks used that term to refer specifically to Persians

The secret societies mentioned in the video were from different regional bandits, the Yellow Turbans originated from Shandong, Red Turbans originated from north China but later power being seized by the southern Red Turbans particularly the Fengyang Mafias of Anhui(Zhu Yuanzhang and his associates), the core of Taipings were not even ethnic Chinese precisely speaking they were mostly Guangxi people of Hakka and ethnic Zhuang origins, many were half-breds.
