Well done Team GB, Team USA and Team France. Outstanding race by all of you and GB are deserved winners, they were always likely to win if we look at the individual races in the Men's race, Yee took Silver, Brownlee was 5th and in the women's race Georgia Taylor-Brown took Silver and Jessica Learmouth was 9th, it will be interesting to see the result of the Mixed Triathlon in Paris 2024 and also the individual races.

The issue GB have this time round is we don't have as strong a number 2 on the men's side. Obviously we have Potter, GTB and Yee so should still compete for a medal but I think beating France will be tough. Yee will need to be in some form of contention for the final run.

Luis made a mistake by blasting past Yee at the end of cyling's first lap allowing Yee to ride his slipstream the entire 2nd lap and conserve strength for the run. He should have just clung to Yee's tail and 'rested' a bit after all the effort he expended to make up the gap. Would it have changed anything? Probably not, but it would have been closer.
@littlemichael72 жыл бұрын
Luis probably thought he could get a gap. Yee also had to make a huge effort to get the wheel and such an effort costs you but having got the wheel he could get some relative recovery so ultimately it played out favourably for Yee. Luis maybe could have tagged onto Yee's wheel for a while getting a bit of a tow and then attack closer to the transition.
@lonewaer Жыл бұрын
Ultimately Periault (first French athlete) was too far behind simply on the swimming, and barely didn't make it worse on the cycling and running. Imagine if she had kept up more reasonably with the leaders while she was still fresh. Imagine simply being 20 seconds behind instead of 35 seconds behind. Now everything becomes more reachable. Suddenly they wouldn't have been asking so much of Luis. I'm not sure that would have compensated for Luis' mistake. Regardless, that's a lot of time needlessly lost. GB was simply a better team over the entire race. They stayed in the lead, resisted all attacks, made better choices, and that eventually let to their best runner starting 1-2, still somewhat fresh, against a bigger burnt out cyclist who just caught up with him. Luis was very impressive individually and particularly on the bike, but ultimately GB was far better, and they got a well deserved win.

Since the format is fixed (FMFM in Tokyo and MFMF this year in Paris), I feel like the most important thing is the anchor leg. The first three main job is to keep it within touching distance. Any lead held by the first 3 triathlete doesn’t really mean much unlike maybe in swimming where you can get creative with your group. Guarantee you if the format was like Tokyo (or if team is allowed to put them in any order they want), Team GB would’ve won it again with Yee as the anchor.

They should start these races like track. Whoever has the closer bike station, starts farther away from the dock. So swimmers need to run a small distance before jumping off.
@han-oq6bo2 жыл бұрын
No because the people who have the closest bike stations have to run further with the bike in t1 they cannot mount until the mount line. In t2 the people whose bikes are furthest then have to run further with the bikes. It all equals out.
