What a legend Kipchoge is. He could have chosen some Nike event, Ineos or big city marathon and made buckets of money yet he chose to represent his country at the Olympics. Every marathon requires so much effort that it knocks you out from other races for 6 months at elite level.
@nickyfranchesco5611
@nickyfranchesco5611 2 жыл бұрын
Your comment is somehow not convincing how will he not represent his country because of some events which he will earn big?were the events ending forever?They could have been organised another date if so,if you knew how many elite marathoners were on the verge of representing there respective countries but missed the chance.
@natiiveson4846

@Jackson M, When you ar e an Olympics champion, your stock goes up.. Your appearance fee increases, your endorsement (from your kitting company) goes up e.t.c. You actually make more money in the four years you are the champion. You also get top invites (invitation) to major (elite races). I think you also get some prize money for the medal from your kitting company. Then there is the prestige. You will always be the Olympics champion.

@darkcircle899
@darkcircle899 2 жыл бұрын
The only problem with your comment is this. While all the things you said are true almost none of those things matter in the case of Kipchoge. Kipchoge is already the best marathon runner in the world and the world record holder and most likely to break the 2hr barrier by far. He doesn’t need to win the olympics to be invited to exclusive races or get huge endorsements. Not to mention that he has already won the Olympic marathon before. The first commenter is correct in that he does not actually have that much to gain from running this race other than wanting to represent his country and have another gold medal. Though I want to stress I’m not trying to be mean because what you said is correct it just doesn’t really apply to a runner of as high a caliber as Kipchoge.
