I just came back from Omo Valley and spent time with all these tribes. I really enjoyed my time with the Hamer tribe. My interaction with them were some of my favorite memories in Ethiopia... the kids, the beautiful jewelry (I purchased a few necklaces off them at the Hamer market, they are very unique!), drinking shoforo (coffee shell tea) with them and watching them create their beautiful beaded wear. I was also shocked to see a Hamer man whip his young son for loosing the live stock that day. The bull jumping ceremony was a dream of mines to witness. It was interesting to see the women get whipped in support of the jumper. Their hair and necklace can also tell their status which is fascinating. I was also speechless when I heard how many hours they can walk to get to their destinations. I'm surprised to see the young women covered in this video as many of them walk around with their upper body exposed but noticed the married women today are wearing shirts tucked high. Love the Hamer tribe and so happy to see you take on it! Love seeing your adventures in Ethiopia!
